poison isn't a curse either. its not magical, it is chemical or biological, depending on the poison used. dispel wouldn't dispell it either.
Na-enthos, i really didn't understand what you were trying to say. What argument are you trying to make?

Well.. I have been thinking about the factions and whether they feel as a unity (in-game). That's why I started about multi-racial factions. I thought a bit and I did not find myself diametrically opposed to multiracial factions. So that kind of became a point of 'that's what I think, how do you (others) see this? Not that I phrased it that way, I know.
Then because the topic was about new units (and I had been thinking about a few which could, combined, prehaps bring more 'unity' to the rebels) I added a few of my own which I had been thinking about.
So there. *shrugs*
Yeah, because I'm a bit of a doubter myself I tend to hold few strong black/white opinions so it's not always easy to get my point across. Especially since arguing this way (with a thought, not wholly.. eh.. though out
) tends to make my posts a bit chaotic.
Sorry about that. I hope this was more lucid.

ok, i think i understand it.
i don't like the idea of unicorns who can heal spells. it is not elvish at all, IMHO. it seems more like greek fantasy than the tolkien style. (no matter what you say, our elves owe a lot to tolkien). same with pegasi.

giant eagles would be cool... but the rebels already have a pretty good scout.Na'enthos wrote:As I said, I do not need them but I just thought about them, and well.. threw them in so everyone can say what they think about 'em.. although I do think giant eagles would be cool.

Warcraft 3 is actually a wonderful game, as far as gameplay goes. However, it is completely unrealistic, it's storyline is [censored] (though wesnoth is little better), and it can't seem to decide if it is being serious or silly.LibrarianBrent wrote:Warcraft 3 sucks. Let's not try to emulate it.
As long as you don't expect something meaningful out of it, it's great. To that end I would criticize them for using the usual "serious drama" motifs in their storyline, especially their use of cinematic cutscenes. If it is supposed to be funny, don't try and make the cinematic scenes all cold and serious. It doesn't work.

Regarding miscellaneous other things said: I disapprove of everything suggested, except the idea of giant eagles, which are terribly similar to the graphical representation of the gryphons in the game (save that the gryphons have four legs, not two).
I hate werewolves. I hate vampires. I hate humanoid cats. I hate any traditional fantasy race that has been perverted to be physically adapted to a certain terrain (drow, water elves, snow elves).
And I especially hate unicorns. If someone manages to get unicorns into the main scenarios, I'll pull a Jay & Silent Bob; I'll show up at your house and beat you up.

Hey, there's more kinds of unicorns than you think. Are you thinking of a particular kind of unicorns you hate?Jetryl wrote:And I especially hate unicorns. If someone manages to get unicorns into the main scenarios, I'll pull a Jay & Silent Bob; I'll show up at your house and beat you up.

Sure, the kind that looks like a horse but has something else growing out of it, like a horn, or wings. Sure, some people might call those second things pegasi. but don't let them fool you. Their proper name is "[censored]".Elvish Pillager wrote:Hey, there's more kinds of unicorns than you think. It's just such a dumb idea... I don't like morphed combinations of different species. Dwarves and Elves are all cool because they aren't a combination of things.
So, a human-crossed-with-anything-race is crap as far as I am concerned. I hate centaurs, too.
The only reason I don't mind the mermen in the game, or at least like them far better than I usually like mermen, is that a clever artist (fmunoz) thought it would be a cool idea to make the upper half of their body all scaly like a fish, instead of skinned like a human. It's something like convergent evolution to give them arms, instead of just slapping a human torso onto a fish tail.
Consider how dumb insects would look if they had bird or bat wings, no?

Well, how about a dragon then? It's just a lizard-headed-snake-bodied-cat-clawed-bat-winged-four-legged-fire-breathing monster.
Oh, and the name 'Pegasi' is stupid. Pegasus is a name. The same with the Medusa and 'Medusae'.
Dwarves and elves aren't combinations of things, they're horrible perversions with no excuse.
How about Vampire Bats? They're a cross between a vampire bat and a Vampire.

I don't realy see what you have against pegasus/medusa or any of these old likes as they were from Greek(?) mythology, in wich they often based things of wich already existed. And personaly I like certain aspects as long as they stay in their original form, elves are long elusive "immortal" folk whom practicaly never age, dwarves are small hairy people who live in mountains, but that these two are the most common fantasy races how are these not perverted? Have you ever searched out for the actual origin of these two "races" to see where the name originates from?

Pegasus is a winged horse. Medusa is a strange monster. I don't mind either of them, I just mind the use of the words 'Pegasi' and 'Medusae.' It would be like calling a race Neoriceisgoods because they looked like you.Neoriceisgood wrote:I don't realy see what you have against pegasus/medusa or any of these old likes as they were from Greek(?) mythology, in wich they often based things of wich already existed. So, are you saying Elves are a cross between fairies and humans? They are, even if you're not.

I still disagree with it. And the reference to medusae made me think it was toward me. (Jetryl never mentioned Medusae.)Neoriceisgood wrote:Actualy that post was adressed towards Jetryl, not you E.P.
