Vera font problems
The hungarian translation was a ltittle bit collapsed by the introduction of the new Vera font. We have special characters: o", u" that are not part of this font and changed to squares in the game. Khiraly, the maintainer of the translation, offered a solution: the using of the font Ljuba, which is an extended version of the Vera made by the fsf.hu foundation.
Questions:
1. Had anyone (e.g. the Portugese with the n~ or the Germans with thw B, pronounced ss) suffered from the same problems, or is it a special hungarian bug?
2. If not, than can we change the Vera font to the extended Ljuba one?
3. If not, than can we post our Ljuba font and make a link to it in the hungarian.cfg file to make it work?

Re: Vera font problems
A few months ago I have met the same problem, with Slovak accented letters. As a solution there is font Bepa, which contains all necessary accented letters from Slovak, Czech, Hungarian and Esperanto alphabets, also some Cyrillic letters (I am not sure how much). This font is also based on Vera.TomJoad wrote:The hungarian translation was a ltittle bit collapsed by the introduction of the new Vera font. Please consider using the font Bepa, compare its font range with the range of font you suggest. Perhaps the best solution would be to merge the fonts together. (I think it is better to have one free font including many characters, than to have many fonts which include ASCII 32 to 127, and 5-10 random additional accented characters.)

Portuguese does not have ñ, Spanish does.
Anyway, it was a Hungarian-only bug: Hungarian uses iso-8859-2, but most western european languages use iso-8859-1. Vera being, apparently, a iso-8859-1-only font, the characters present in the former, but not in the latter were missing.
I fixed that in last CVS, making Hungarian use Bepa. The Hungarian translation maintainer should ensure the "font=Bepa-Roman.ttf" line, in the translation file, is not removed.

Ljuba vs. Bepa-roman
Hi!
Im against the Bepa-roman font. Its not the same quality as the ljuba font.
Here are two pictures for comparison:
Bepa-roman

Ljuba

My proposal is:
Just use the Ljuba font for all the language. Normally it has the cirill letters too. But for the hungarian language its superior quality as the Bepa-roman.
I hope the ljuba font can include in the game.
