I agree that the hammer in the background doesn't look good for the Knalgans.
I'd prefer it with no hammers at all to hammers which are visible through the eye-holes.
The Knalgan one is definitely worse that way, I think. The Drake one looks fine but it's probably better without the flames for consistency with the others.
agreed, ill scrap the backgrounds.

just a blurry black crown-shaped thing with a red question mark? will do. after the others are done.
Urs wrote:The ones you posted look quite good, however, I'm not so sure I like the style. Could you maybe try to do one in the Attack icon style? I think theat would look better, less pixel painted and more realistic.
well, it would cause more discrepancy with the nearby pixel-art leader selection sprites. + more importantly, ive got 3 done already :/

As per SynErr's request via PM, and since this is heading towards a solid direction, and since the elders seem to agree with the idea, I'm moving this to Art Workshop. I'd have moved it to Contributions, but since it is still an in-development idea, I cannot do that.

EDIT: moved to Contributions, as Shadow/Wayfarer recommended.

With the faction logos, how about a leader unit of sorts beside it? You could do elaborate poses if you wanted.

The Helm/p

Here is the helm, made flag-sized.
I am thinking that we need something different.

That zip appears to be corrupted. I think something may be wrong with the upload mechanism, this isn't the first corrupted file i've seen recently.

As DDR said in the attachment comment, it's not a zip, it's a bitmap (though I'm flummoxed as to why, seeing as even MS Paint can save PNGs these days).

Oops, my bad.

Having looked at it, it really doesn't look good flag-sized. I'd suggest a simpler, more streamlined version for the flags. Maybe just a silhouette.

scaling doesnt work well in this case. more importantly, why do you want to scale it to flag size? :?

Somewhere or other, someone big said that icons for flags would be good as part of this project/as their own separate but related project.

yes, but factional flags != helmets. i mean, a helmet near a village symbolizing the governing faction? thats ridiculous. zookeeper told to use the same _symbols_ on both flags and helmets. a la knalgan hammer, drake wings, loyalist SoF or W letter, undead skull.

D'oy.

I'm not awake, lol.

So...a hammer for the Knalgans. tSoF for the Loys. A tree for the Rebels. A skull for the UD. And...maybe the Black Eye for the northerners... If not that, then i'm not certain what there isn't really a faction-defining weapon or characteristic that is unique to them... Drakes - a dragon or wings.

I like it, perhaps the crown's crests could portray the icons discussed?

For the Knalgans, perhaps crossed hammers could be on the crown itself, perhaps embossed?

Yes I use windows.
Yes I'm aware of what that means.
Yes I'm still gonna use windows.

For the elves I would still go for a tree. I mean tree hugers eer I mean elves and trees. They are made for it.
For dwarves a hammer and a pickaxe.

I wouldn't limit myself too much to the headgear. The loyalist crown is good though.
