Hi there!

Post by shadowrun_lucas »

Yo all!

I am the new guy here.. and I am currently downloading the game while reading the blah, blah.. documentaries..

So, I reckon this is like Fantasy Generals, judging from the scrnshots but moddable..? I see threads that say you can play online too, so there would be a lobby..maybe its online rpg similar to Hiddenworld.

From the player perspective, what the fek is Battle for Wesnoth really? :?

I advise you to play the tutorial, and read the "How to play..." series in the Strategies and Tips section of the forum.

Welcome to the forums.

wesnoth is not a RPG style game. it's solely a strategy game with turn-based combat. you can recruit units, advance them if they got enough experience points, take villages for extra income every turn. the terrain defense system marks the defensive as well as the offensive chance of hit/defend for a unit.

this is a very modded game. with hundreds of user made add-ons, choose which one you like or make your own, it's easy to code and releatively easier to learn compared to other coding languages.just see here
yeah.. a really populated forum you got here..
the forum has quite dozens of active users as well as good topics. it's clean and organized, unlike some junk you might find on the internet that's filled with ads and spams. check out all the cool disccusion or debates going on around here. ask help (whether it involves wesnoth or not) and i'm sure some decent wesnothian will offer you a helpful hand. you can ask me for advice, i'm on the forums almost every day just like most forum regulars(even though i'm not rated one).

have fun!

thanks yo.. :D

I reckon. I've played a similar game a while back, I think this plays like Shining Force or Fire Emblem. Anyways, I still got to redownload, something's corrupted with the files i had.

There's forum regulars, and then there's Forum Regulars. Bit of a difference.

Really, the best way to understand the game is to play.

Welcome to you, I hope you come to enjoy the game as much as the rest of us do. If you do run into any snags, take advantage of searching the forums first and the wiki, and if you still have a question put it on the forums. If you've honestly tried to find the answer, or even if you haven't, there are always people on here every day willing to help. Best of luck to you!

Tried it already... AND I LIKE IT!! :D Can't believe its free.. kekekeke

It's very much like Fantasy Generals, though the graphics are much sweeter. I believe there are additional campaigns than the ones I already saw, where can I get it? Okay, okay... use the search button I get it..

I'll be introducing this game to my younger bros.. They need more games like this one, games that act as brain stims..

Maybe you better finish downloading the game before asking questions concerning gameplay.
Oh, and it is not very nice to call the documentation "blah, blah", remember it was done - like everything else here - by volunteers.

Well, I cannot see how this would make my point less apply.

It just was not a proper comment from my point of view, specially since that is past. Not all people can waste bandwidth and/or time in downloading stuff if they don't know how it tastes. I am a case, so I do understand these people.

Sure but
I am currently downloading the game
I agree it would perfectly make sense to ask these questions before you actually download the game but not while you are downloading it.
