New campaign idea: Final Isles

New campaign idea: Final Isles
I'm thinking about creating a campaign based around the nameless ocean, and what lies beyond. The campaign would take place during the golden age of Wesnoth, when the prince decides to explore the ocean (which noone since Haldric had). On the way he would make allies with bands of merman and Islanders. The plot would develop around a conspiracy by pirates to kill him and take the throne.
The first scenario would be non-playable and would basically be the prince leaving port.
The second scenario would be the prince discovering an island occupied by monsters of some sort. Victory would be to kill the mosters and maybe free the residents of the island.
In the third scenario, the prince would land on an Island where the pirates have a sort of hideout. He would try to arrest them, but the pirates would overpower him and escape, after hinting about thier plan.
Later on, there might be a sea battle between the prince's ship and the pirate ships.
The last scenario would be on the green isle, dominated by undead and orcs. The prince would show up, pursued by pirates. There would be a big battle ending with the pirates being defeated, the orcs being cut down, and the undead retreating for now (although the green Isle would still be populated by them).
Some scenarios could also involve the prince's struggle against the harshness of the ocean (typhoons, hurricanes and storms being the least of his worries *cough Sea Monsters cough*)
Please comment on this and give me suggestions, ideas and feedback!
Thanks a lot!

Thanks. I hadn't really thought much about what I would use for art, but that would work really well.

Would you really need a non-playable scenario at the beginning? Personally I much prefer intro text instead of starting with a non-controllable or non-winnable scenario. If you don't want to jump into action at sea you could have a brief controllable scenario introducing the plot. Possibly a raid of some sort (orc or bandit etc.) that would have to be taken care of before the voyage sets off, for example, or if you want to start things off a bit further you could begin with an unrelated "final" battle (e.g. have a little fight and then a little bit of dialogue to the tune of "We've finally defeated the orcish/whatever threat and our borders are secure at last. Now we can turn our attention to more distant horizons" and then start into the voyage itself next scenario.)
It does sound like a really sweet campaign idea though. I'm not a tremendously great artist but I might be able to kick in a few decent units if you would need them...

Yeah, I don't really like non-playable scenarios either. I like your idea of beginning with a tie-in to another campaign. I was already thinking of using the same main character as my last campaign, so the battle could be something resulting from that. Or maybe I should use a more well-known campaign.
And thanks for the offer of helping with art, I'm really a terrible artist so help is very much appreciated.

Ok. Here is draft 1 of the campaign
-Scenario 1 will be a battle with orcs. At the end, dialogue will be about how they can now go to sea.
-Scenario 2 will be of leaving port. Pirates will be seen on the edge of the map. The pirates will comment about how the king might have some valuable stuff on board.
-Scenario 3 will be a short scenario of a battle with saurians
-Scenario 4 will be a sea battle in galleons against the pirates. Near the end, Mermen will arive to help. Some pirates will escape.
-Scenario 5 will be a run-away/evade pirates in the middle of a big storm. The player will have to avoid big waves and tornadoes.
-Scenario 6 will be landing on an island, seeing it is already populated by elves and trying to make peace with them. If I can get artwork, the player might also get some elvish ships.
-Scenario 7 will be battling dragons on an Island. There might be some discovering of dangerous and cool artifacts.
-Scenario 8, if no one objects, will be a battle on a part of the Green Isle against undead and maybe remnants of the wesfolk.
-Scenario 9 will be an island on the edge of the world infested with undead and drakes.
-Sceanios 10 will be a bunch of little moving scenarios where the player has to navigate from one map to another back to wesnoth. (For example, if you are supposed to go south and you go east, in the next one you will have to go south and after that you will have to go east. Sort of like a maze.)
-Scenario 11 will be a big sea and land battle against a lot of pirates.
I might also add a bit about rediscovering the old continent, finding it decimated by wars and moving on.

Sorry for the lack of progress. My computer was down with a virus and it took a long time to fix. I was also very busy with updating the Brotherly Love campaign. It's now working on the latest version of Wesnoth.
Things will go slowly for a couple weeks more, as I am involved with a musical production, but after that it will have more free time to chew up.
I just finished doing the map for the third scenario and coding for the first two are done. I'll soon post the WML for those scenarios.
