A little birdie dropped me a PM informing me that my Steppe Orcs had been absorbed into this Extended Era of yours.
:) Suffice to say, I'm glad they've found a home.
As has been said elsewhere, I have semi-abandoned this faction. If it does get taken off the back burner, it will not be for some time.
Thus you are welcome to make whatever changes you wish.

Regarding the goblin line (hunter etc), I was always of the opinion that the powerful slow-skirmish combination was balanced out by extremely low HP and relatively high cost. However I'm no Doc Paterson of unit balance, so do what you wish.

Also, does EE have the warrior and savage with upgraded faces? If not, here you go:

Good luck ...and *sniff* take good care of them.

I though the same too, but well, but some game showed that this high movement + slow + skrimisher combination was even more powerful than i thought. So now i'm testing without skirmisher. IMHO skirmisher is the least essential component of this combination for this unit. Slow is already a very powerful special...

Quick update (since i'm lacking time) : i updated the trannslation for both versions :
changelog wrote:9/7/2007: v 0.23.3 (stable)
- updated translations : Czech, Danish, French, Italian, Swedish

9/7/2007: v x.30.1 (unstable)
- updated translations : Czech, French, Swedish
Both should be compatible with previous version since only the translations changed...

Ugh... the 'Northerners can't recruit' error got back into the 1.2 version of EE when you updated translations... probably same for outlaws, and I haven't checked 1.3... please update it, you don't need to up the version number, but do it as fast as possible please... I would do it, if I had the pw, but I can't, so I'm stuck being unable to play certain scenarios with one of my favorite factions...

Well, i cannot reproduce the problem ... it just works there (Linux).
Anyway such a modification doesn't make much sense since the only things i've updated are the .mo translation files.
Try to redownload, and see if it fixes you problem.

It's not with me, it's with other people who just downloaded it yesterday...

Maybe the proble comes from another addon that collides with the Extended Era ?

I'm getting frequent Sync errors (that cause the game to degenerate into hilarious, but unplayable lack of sync) while using this Era in multiplayer network play. Have I assumed correctly that this is EXTENDED MP ERA from the server list? If so, is my version (0.23.4 as shown on the addons list), also up to date?

Any idea what I can do to fix this? This is my group of friends favorite era to play, but the frequent sync errors make anything but fast games impossible.

If it makes any difference we use Hamachi (but never experience sync errors in other eras, like Default).

I play a lot of Extended Era MP games without any OOS problems. The only advice I can offer is to make sure everyone in the game is using the same version of the Era. When I've had problems in the past, its been because someone had an out-of-date version of the Era.

Thanks for the advice, but that can't be it, we all downloaded it within a few minutes of each other, haha.

Can having multiple Eras installed cause problems? I'd be willing to uninstall my other ones (if I knew how) to correct it, if that's the problem.

In the past, some other Eras did collide with the Extended Era, maybe there is still some...
Collision might came from other type of addons like campaigns (through normally if they are setup correctly that kind of things shouldn't happen - but some campaigns might have broken setups).
Try to uninstall some and see if the problem still happens.

Also it could be related to the trait/translation bug :
- if you're using a version 1.2.5 or below and play versus some other players that don't play in the same language you may encounter some OOSes
- if you're using the official Windows (VC++ build) version of 1.2.6, you may encounter OOSes too, since the fix appear to be broken here :(

To uninstall an era, go into Wesnoth/Userdata/Data/Campaigns (for a windows system), and delete the era's folder and .cfg file.

This also happened to me once yesterday, but other than the error message, it did not affect my multiplayer gameplay, we were all still in "synch". We rebooted our machines and it was fine, we both have the same version x.30, it was just a little annoying, that's all. :)

We're newbies, and we really like the extended era, especially faction balance. Every time something feels off-balance in play, after we think about it for a while, it really is balanced very well!

We're now trying to get our other friends to play it with us, and we always refer to the factions on the http://zapicm.freeshell.org/ page linked off the wiki. They have the unit info for Extended Era (x.29.0)...is there an updated one somewhere for x.30.0? If not, I would be willing to make one and post it somewhere for reference. (We use the reference a LOT)
