Stuck on The Lost General
Hello all, I wanted to ask a bit of advice for this scenario
I've heard that this map is made to level up your new Dwarven allies, which you will need later on, but the problem is, when I move south, to the Undead, their Revenants kill my Dwarves one by one, when I move west, the Trolls take care of them.
I haven't recalled any units from past scenario's, since most of them move very slow in caves.
Should I recall healers for this scenario as backup or try it with just dwarves? (I have 1 Elvish Shyde, 3 Paladins, 3 White Mages)

Use healers. Recall the Shyde and any of the mages with the 'quick' trait; don't bother with Paladins in caves.
When you're fighting against level 2 enemies, it doesn't take too many kills for a dwarf to level up. If you can level one with a kill, go for it, otherwise if it has experience and is wounded, cycle it back to healers or villages.
This strategy does take a lot of Dwarves; if you don't feel like you have enough money, go back and find the secret passage in the previous scenario.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
My opservations on recruitment on this lvl.
Mages of Light/white mages and/or Shyde/Druid are esential. (make sure the people fighting the general have at least two)
For fighting the trolls it helps to have a silver mage and a healer.
Bring Konrad down south for using his ldeadership
Other than that get all dwarves. Try to get 3+ lvls up.
Tactics: Stick dwarves so that the undead cannot edge round you and place it so that both blockers can be healed. Do not attack revenants let them attack you, when you get into a dangerouse range move the fighter up front, backwards and bring up a new one. Eventualy your hammers will yeild kills. You might wish to bring a thunderer to shoot at ghosts.
On the recall of non-dwarves quick humans can move 3 hexes in cave, and quick elves can move 2. (I think shyde might be diffrent and olny move 2 I'd have to check)
EDIT: Many new messages appeared since I replied. Much of what I have been said has been coverd so I have a new peice of advice. White mages are great, however silver mages are nice. The trolls in this lvl might make good xp fodder for a mage (though it will take him forever to reach them) I would send the lvl 5 mage to help the dwarves fight the trolls he will be invaluable in softening them up so that dwarves can kill them.

"There are two kinds of old men in the world. The kind who didn't go to war and who say that they should have lived fast died young and left a handsome corpse and the old men who did go to war and who say that there is no such thing as a handsome corpse."
Oh god this is working a treat :O I started with the Undead, where I levelled 2 dwarves to Steelclads, one of those into a Lord.
Then the trolls came in from the west, where i got the other steelclad to a lord, and in the north another whelp came in and that got me another steelclad
Edit: Finished the level with 3 Dwarvish Lords and 1 38/59 exp Dwarvish Steelclad

I couldn't win Lost General until I gave up on starting with the Undead and went to kill off the trolls first. Granted this may take more than 20 turns, so the Undead will already be getting loose when you finish, but with the trolls out of the way they are less of a problem. Having a lot of dwarves will be good enough to clear out the skeletons, and Delfie and Kalenz and any other magic users you have should suffice to take out the Revenants and Lionel, especially if you're careful to fight in a narrow passage where they can only attack your group one, or at most two at a time. Good luck!
P.S. I played LG on medium starting with about 269 gold.

Recruit dwarves. Fighters are good against trolls and undead, and thunderers can be of some use against the trolls too.ugly_orc23 wrote:Hey guys![]()

Don't forget to bring along one merperson for the bonus. It'll take about 15-20 rounds till you figure out what he's for.

Elvis marksman? Oh dear
Looking at your recall list, your best bet is to just go with dwarves and more dwarves. More fighters than thunderers I'd say.
