Wesnoth project on Ohloh
For those of you guys who know Ohloh, open source directory which monitors and analyze code sources, and for the others, I just wanted to note that Battle for Wesnoth shows a very good report!!!

Re: Wesnoth project on Ohloh
Codebase: 82,489 lines of code
Estimated effort: 21 person years
Project cost: $1,129,567
This is what Wesnoth would probably cost if it were a commercial proprietary product. I would also like to see some estimates what could then be the price and how many copies would probably be sold... to guess whether the project could be financially successful. -- But as it is now, we just do not have to care about such estimates.

Does that estimate include art? Probably not. That would add another few million.

No, the estimate only counts the cost of developing the engine. It doesn't count art or music, and I'm fairly sure it doesn't count WML, so it doesn't include the cost of the campaigns.
I would say that the estimated cost of the engine as a commercial product is reasonable, though perhaps on the high side.
The $55k/year developer cost is way low to get me, and probably most of the other coders on salary. However, the 21-man-year time estimate is probably somewhat high. It'd fairly heavily depend on how many testers would be needed to develop the same level of quality as a commercial product.
