Clonkinator's lil' map pack
Well, I thought people might perhaps like these maps, so I'll upload them here. All these three maps are for Wesnoth 1.2 (Made with Wesnoth 1.2.2). All three maps are designed to be played with 4 players, but two of them can also be played with up to 8 players (only in teams, though). And don't be surprised, since I actually created them for myself their names will be shown in a green color in the selection screen
. However, download them and have a look at them. Feedback is welcome, but I actually am not going to change very much at them.
EDIT: I added three new maps now. Hope you like them.
Maps contained:
- 2p - White Mirror (Rather small)
- 3p - Triplette (Tiny)
- 4p - Tiny Rumble (Small)
- 6p - Tropical Cave (Rather small)
- 8p - Bases (Medium)
- 8p - Cave Valley (Large)
2p - White Mirror:
This map is pretty snowy and vertically mirrored, so it is called the white mirror. This map looks a bigger than it actually is. I don't think you'll fight really much on the snow, so I'd dare to call it a rumble map for two players.
3p - Triplette:
At this map you'll have to move your units smartly, or you'll be smashed by both your enemies at the same time! This map just is a big hexagon with three smaller areas in it. All three areas have exactly the same conditions. This map gets especially interesting with fog...
4p - Tiny Rumble:
This map is designed for fast matches. A small map for rumble-like games.
6p - Tropical Cave:
Also a pretty rumble-like map. There's not very much to explain about this one, so just look at it. I should note, however, that the inner two players - side 5 and 6 - have a little bit of a disadvantage, so they should get a bit more gold than the others. 20% to 40% should be fine. Shroud and fog might add a bit of a kick to this map...
8p - Bases:
This map has a medium size. Designed for 4 teams containing either 1 or 2 players. Each team has a little island which is not that hard to defend, but pretty hard to invade. In addition, there's a little 'battle island' in the middle of the map. Only the strongest will manage to defeat the others here. Will you win?
NOTE: I placed several impassible mountains on the bases to minimize drake-advantage here.
8p - Cave Valley:
This map is very big. Four teams (containing 1 or 2 players each) fight each other in this natural area full of caves in which units may easily hide. The cave in the middle is the biggest. Manoever your troops smartly here, or you will soon be overrunned by your foes. Defeat the others and become the master of this valley!
NOTE: I suggest to play this map with shroud and fog, it's just more interesting.
NOTE: The sliders of XP-modifier and gold will now automatically move to the recommended value. Of course you may still change it as you want. If I get the next map finished I might put the whole thing onto the addon-server. Until that happens... Have fun!
Installation: Just unzip all maps into the following folder:
Wesnoth/userdata/data/scenarios/multiplayer.
Have fun
.

Btw, I think '8p - Cave Valley' is a little bit too huge to be played over the internet. I think it's rather for games against the AI, for hotseat, for LAN or for really long internet-partys. Anyway, have fun.
NOTE: Don't click the 'download this map'-buttons below the images. If you want to download the maps, download the whole zip-thing further above and just unzip the maps you want to play.
No villages in the rumble? Interesting...
Bases looks interesting, but water units would own that map pretty much. Perhaps some ford where the impassible mountains have the break? leading to the other side and the water village of course.
I seriously want to play Cave Valley, it looks damn fun. I agree that finding eight players to play it will rarely happen though.

I don't think so. It's true that the water can be well controlled by mermen and nagas, but that's fine so. You'll rarely see them entering the land and attacking your base anyway as they would just get massacred. And if I added river ford hexes there the islands would be more easy to invade. I don't want that. Well, if you want to keep enemies from entering your island, just put a guard onto the village right next to the passable mountain and enemies should have a hard time getting over there that way. And if you think one unit isn't enough, hey, just put another one in range!Jami wrote: Bases looks interesting, but water units would own that map pretty much. However, I'm glad if you like the maps.

Tiny Rumble: Converted the center ice-hexes to hills each.theothercolin wrote:Some hills in the middle of Rush are needed. In Bases, maybe an easier way for water units to make it to a combatable area? Some ford in place of grass somewhere. Other than that loks pretty fun. Good maps.
Bases: I have to think about that. I myself don't really find it very hard to get your units into the water. Just move them over your mountain village and you should be able to get them there withhin 1 turn (or 2 if you get a slow merman).

However, note again: Download the scenario-files from the zip-file further above and just extract only the maps you want to play, but don't click the "download this map"-links under the map-images. When playing the scenario-files out of the zip-file you'll hear music, see map descriptions and get auto-recommended-settings. If you download them one by one with "download this map" you'll get nothing of that. Do yourself (and me) a favor. That means, if you download my maps at all...
