How to keep maps completely symmetrical
If you want to get rid of player 1 advantage but want to keep the map symmetrical, just add two more players. Each player will control two players.
Let me wait a minute, that's a 2 vs. 2 map then, right?
Have a look at the official map pack, there are lots of symmetrical, balanced 1 vs. 1 maps. The main part of the trick is not to add villages or pther important positions in the middle of the map.

The latter's true, but the former ain't. Ain't no symetrical 1v1 maps in that there map pack. Lots of em are almost symetrical.
