I think clans would be a good idea if approved by Dev's first. There would be requirements though.

1. Updated listing of all members
2. A website devouted to the clan and links to Wesnoth.org
3. Only to use forum as place of information gathering, idea listing, and possibly listings for tournaments. Not a recruitment center.

That is how I see it.

I don't have any problems with recruiting through the forum, as long as it is either in OT or a dedicated section. Also, they shouldn't be allowed to send obnoxious PMs.

The devs will never aprove. They don't even like usergroups, although the feature is available.

The clans are dieing! My Dark Side has done it!

Well personally I see th clan idea right. I would like to be in clan where all people are recognized as reliable players (no quitting after losing two units, no insulting). Some www site only for members with nicklist, so you can use ctrl+F to find if folks in ur game are from your clan. But if the blacklist/whitelist feature will be implemented right, there will be no need for that, I guess.

Hi, I am new in wesnoth multiplayer battles, but in all games I had play, clans were a very good way to meet people, learn, and have fun in clan vs clan battle. How many clans are now?? Any clan of Spanish players? (sorry about my english and greetings from a Spanish Wesnoth Lover)

there are not realy clans in wesnoth (besides n3t and nf, which are mainly about map settings anyways--no 3v3s and no fog)

Something hat people do (i've noticed) is put an abbreviation for the country they are from...that is the closest I think you could get to a spanish clan...

And greetings! :)

not quite correct there, Thrawn... the n3t clan opposes XvXvX (which includes 1v1v1, 2v2v2, and 3v3v3).

Simply put: Energy = Mass multiplied by the square of the velocity of light.

In other words, if you convert an amount of matter into pure energy, the amount of energy created is unbelievably enormous.

That's my signature. I actually know what the theory is about.

My signature is actually a quote from myself, December 29th 2006, from another forum in which I made the following paragraph of rethorical question:
I wrote:OK, I'm annoying when I criticize people, but I think nobody should write a dedicated web page if he/she doesn't know exactly what the object of dedication is all about. I could go and write a page about the Theory of Relativity (or whatever it's called), but, what is the point if I don't know what the Theory of Relativity is?

also, the theory of relativity does not mean , as the french put it, that everything is relative( 'tout est relatif').
Otherwise Einstein wouldn't have been able to say that something was true or false... it's also been taken by the phoniness of of post-modern philosophy.

Just ask la_vie_en_wose
he knows, gotta learn philosophy in 'terminale'(last class of high school in France).

So why not have clans for mp?
it would mean getting on at certain times every week to play each other...and eventually playing other clans.
A clan being started by 2-3 friends could easily choose a main army to specialize in and train for such events or get ready for 3vs3 tournaments with a player from a different army playing with them, specialized in a different aspect allowing more difficult games. For such events alliances of clans would match up against each other.
Clans like in Ogame, warcraft 3 or travian?
could even do a game with a map of wesnoth with different groups fighting for control of it all, with different clans per region, having governments and allegiences and being in capacity of having treaties or going to war...rebelling against their government and overthrowing it; battles mp all the way through, pm's , roles...making the wesnoth world alive perhaps...one hour a week or a day and making a 'universe' per hour a day per time-zone. European, USA servers, Oceania-Asia, ...etc.

A massive mp game for mac, linux and pc on internet with legendary CS Lewis, Tolkien type armies in a simple yet strategicly rich environment...
a whole new level of international relations...in a game?

Just thinking out loud here...
