Just in for a bit of healthy criticism

Post by Zendra »

We're usually far too self-critical to ever get as far as sharing anything we create or edit, but we've been doing some changes to unit sprites in the game since we downloaded "gimp" a few days back, and figured we just as well could share a character we're quite satisfied with ourself.

Since we dont edit anything less than full animation sequences, and units tend to look a bit dead without them, we had the rest of the assassin-sprites remade as well. Got this character going back to thief in animation as well, but havent edited the colour pattern and tweaked as many details on those versions.

Hmm... 'rar'-format isnt allowed. Unfortunate. Then again, with the editing-program, shouldnt be any trouble... Nnnope. Wasnt.

Her head seems to flatten out in the 2nd and 3rd frames of the animation you've posted. Other than that it looks pretty good.

Tried to make an effect with the head similar to how the original assassin turned slightly around as she dodged, but we left the face a bit messy, since we get horribly perfectionistic if we try to edit a pixelated face depending on its "three-dimentional" focus.
And mhm, this wasnt actually supposed to be an "assassin" as such, but we've kept the name that way to make it easier to access from the image directory. Sort of a more straight-forward fighting version of the original unit, and we intent to use this one as a level four upgrade to the characters actual assassin-version. When one has conquered the night, there is only to seek to do the same with the day. In this case, anyway.

Noticed some flaws with the blades shortly after uploading these, but fixed them a mere moment ago. Not all that visible, though.

Um, so how many people are you?
Feel free to PM me if you start a new terrain oriented thread. It's easy for me to miss them among all the other art threads.

Its either that, or we sooner or later forget singularity and it starts popping up 'we's in our sentences anyway. So we're "insane". Thats the simple explaination. At least, that's the answer which does not involve lengthy complicated explainations which involve far too much personal information. We just don't bother pretending anymore. Wears us out even more than having to explain ourself over and over.
That said, please move on. We're not especially healthy in reality.

The sprite is good, the flat head thing was mentioned before, it looks more like a warrior than an assassin. My impression is that this is male due to broad shoulders.

I'm amused by the "We", don't quite understand your last post, but I guess we are in an art forum so I won't digress any further.
