Actually, women warriors and even rulers among the ancient Celts were very common.

The above is a link about women warriors among ancient civilisations (not a very good one granted, but it has a few lines on the celts)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know of only one: Boadiccea. By that standard, it makes more sense for the Marauders to have female warriors!
boadiccea was a queen/leader and famous, that doesnt mean there
were not less famous women celt warriors...she just got the
historical spotlight so to speak..

Well, I'm planning to include a female Warrior variation (like how you can get female Magi). It would be a bit too much work to make a female variation for every male unit, and if I had to pick one, the Warrior would be the best. I'm thinking sexy chick with a big sword totally kicking enemy butt. The drawing will have to be of the highest quality. :P (On a side, and more serious note, I realize that the Celts went into battle naked. Since this is not an option in Wesnoth, I would just like to get your opinions: is a simple leather bra or hair falling over her breasts better? Or some third option? Please don't get into a debate like that mermaid portrait thread.)

Not all! Just the ones who wanted to prove that they had more courage than the rest....

Well, after my Gnome faction sort of failed (due to lack of interest in them), I decided to come back to this, as it had at least marginally more interest and potential. I have tried drawing a new image: The Warhero (It already had an image, but that was stolen). Level 2 warrior. (Insert standard comments-and-criticism-welcome comment here.)

Actually, I was interested in the Gnome faction. Sadly, however, I could never get it to work, with either 1.1.9 or 1.0.2, and I still don't know what the problem was. What can you do?

Bad formatting, probably. By tomorrow, it being the weekend, I should be able to get you a working release.

Good to see they're back from the dead!

The new picture is good, but there is one odd thing for me, which is that he looks ill (something like a scary blue-spot illness or poison).

Blue warpaint. The Ancient Celts sometimes dabbed blue paint (made out of a type of leaf called woad) on themselves in battle. It was supposed to make them look scary.
EDIT: Oh, Temuchin posted while I was typing.

Oh. It just doesnt fit in very well. I think it looks too bright. Maybe different shading. Or maybe have the warpaint symmetrical. :?

Edit: I guess if you make the warpaint any darker it wouldnt look blue...
Whatever, just ignore my post or something...
Screw it... I can go without a sig.

Warpaint is a good idea, but I don't think it is well executed here. Look at the Dwarvish Berserker to see how warpaint (or, in that case, tattoos - but they look similar) can be done well.
