Well hello again! I don't mind your absences

Thunderblade wrote:Anyway, some things I think could be clarified:

- Government: I liked the idea Oreb posted here, but the original one was like this. Originally, Sidhe records tell of a old and whise king named Vanimaro, who led his people to war against enemy kingdoms (could be the marauders, orcs, or any other kind of non-good-elf thing - just assure he dies in the end of the battle). The reasons of this war I leave t your imagination, but think of the wild elves as of a xenofobic bunch - they would hate any intrusion in their lands. After the king died, they fought hard to recover his body and the shards of his magical blade, the original Thunderblade, which blade has been split in twelve fragments. To keep the memory of their valiant king, they decided that Vanimaro would be called the Sidhe First and Only king, and refused monarchy ever since. Now, they are "ruled" by two different bodies: (1) the council of elders, comprising their wisest spellcasters (masters of the spellcasting nobility class), who discuss over Sidhe political affairs (exactly like a council of elders); and (2) the Thunderblades, each a member of the fighting nobility carrrying a sword imbued with one of the shards, more of a practical group of "errand knights" than common nobles. They would each be charged with part of the Sidhe lands to oversee and protect by the strength of their blades, and would be extensively tested to be granted these "gifts". Anyway, this is what it pretended to be in the beginning - as I said above, I like the idea of a new king and all... Feel free to pick the one you think suits wesnothian history better :)
We do have Vannimaro does die in a war against the Marauders who leads the attack but it killed (maybe by a Valkyrie flying above the battle)

I like the idea of the councils of elders, with the wisest spellcasters and the 12 Thundeblades leading the war efforts. It would be more better than having another king...

Vannimaro dies after leading his people arcoss the waters and dies securing the new Sidhe land, for while the women, children and elders entered the land, Vannimaro and his Valliant warriors held the line and pushed back the Marauders until he was struck down.

Sorry for being away for so long, and congratulations for this very nice work you´re doing!
That's alright, anyway I'm trying to get it as close as your original plan

OK, so, Vanimaro is dead when Fall of Silvium takes place? Sounds good - I'll have to rewrite one of the cutscenes, though. Right now I have it set up with a council of 6 Wilf Elves, one of whom is the Thunderblade who you meet in the western forests, who counsel Vanimaro. It sounds like what it should be is 12 Thunderblades counselling a group of 6 magi.

If the Fall of Silvium takes place as the Wild Elves arise on the Old Continent, then yes

OK, so Vanimaro's dead... who should Leithan be reporting to, then? He's a thunderblade, so presumably one of the 12 - he's reporting to the 6 elders? And does Vaniyera, currently a Shadowdancer, have to become a thunderblade?

(BTW, this is turin speaking, I'm using a secondary account.)

From the Combined Idea Government of Thuderblade and Me, Leithan is reporting to no one, if he is a Thunderblade, that means he is in the Council and is above and below no one.

Vaniyera who is a Shadowdancer, is either not a noble and is just a great warrior who is great enough to consider his advice, or he is a noble/warrior and has not earned his sword imbued with the shard of Vannimaro's Thunderblade.

Since I Finally started playing wesnoth again after 4 months, I am not that far in Fall of Silvium, but close enough.

Also, I do believe Turin is in England

Right, I'm in england. I#m using a school computer. The myriad typos are because it is a european keyboard...

OK, so Leithan reports to no one? Then he is probably just going to ask for advice - he doesn't know what he shoul do, so he calls a meeting fo the council.

Thats fine, I can still understand it

Yes he would call the meeting, but since Vannimaro is already dead, the new council government would be inplace, therefore the Mt. Stormkeep Scenario needs to be changed.

Changes:

The 6 Wise Councilmen (Stormlords) will be situated in the centre keep, while there will be 12 Thunderblades situated around the centre, each Thuderblade has their own disciple who will follow in their wise teaching. With these changes Citadel will have to be modified according to the twelve Thunderblades and disciples

So the story with Leithan dying could be that his disciple distrusts you and when Leithan dies, the disciple would rightfully take Leithan's place as a Thunderblade in the council. Therefore, he is in charge of Leithan's army, and while he may have the sword, he does not no how to properly use and will not truly be a Thunderblade but will still be what he was before (i.e Shadowdancer)[/code]

Sounds good. When I get back, I'll rewrite the scenario. I think it will work better without a central king, actually...

Well it is some of the best art you've done. You should work on the art for Vannimaro unless Kestenavarn wants to do it first.

EDIT: We could use the original Thunderblade art as a Vanimåro placeholder for now, since it looks like a thunderblade but different

Well, when I get back it should be fairly easy to modify the Thunderblade art to look like a different unit. It won't look great, but it will be different enough to obviously be a different unit. I don't think what you have cuts it.

I am such a bad artist that I know I don't have what it takes, but if we ever need a Vanimåro, he could be place holder until we get a better one

I worked on the Wild Elf King cfg. Found a few errors throughout IE, which are listed here, also the changes I made will be listed, if someone could update the svn, that’s be great:

IE champs - Whirlwind spelt Whirldwind

When selecting sidhe, for IE champs, it auto-selects, bladespinner (a level 2)

Whirlwind rage change to 5

Wildblade rage change to 4

Windrunner gets marksman

And that is it.

The shield of the Wild Elves!

This is something I whipped up in GIMP - it's my idea for what the shields of the Wild Elves would have painted on them - at least those of the Council Guard. I would think that each of the Thunderblades would have their own coat-of-arms. Naturally, I have all of this in XCF form, separated into layers, if anyone else wants to play around with it and create shields for the various thunderblades too, or whatever.

(BTW, I got all of those loops and curves to be exactly symmetrical by using two neat little GIMP tools - "stroke path" and "rotate". You draw the symbol in one of the three sections using a path, you stroke the path, then you copy and rotate it so it is symmetrlcal.)

Neat! And yes, all the Thunderblades would have their own Coat of Arms, since they are 'Lords' over their entrusted area's.

Hmm.. but where could this be used?

No idea. Just cool to have, though. And it might be useful for reference for any portraits done.
