Just twenty HP, that's all I ask!
Before I begin this request for help, let me first point out that I'm not very good at this game. It was only recently that I figured out why spearmen would be useful against charging horsemen, and what the point of firststrike was. And that was only after reading something about it.
So I'm playing Heir to the Throne, and have currently bogged down in one particular mission, doesn't quite matter which. It's not strategic advice I need, for I've managed to sweep the field of all enemy units save for three. Two of those units are in a very annoying spot; namely, one cavalryman above Delfador, and one ogre beneath him. Both are at about half HP. Delfador is at 4. You see my problem. I have two knights nearby who could swoop down and finish off both problems with ease, if only they hadn't spent their turns taking care of other problems surrounding Delfador. If Delfador can just survive for one more turn, the battle is mine. However, six attacks at 50% each seem impossible to survive, as much use of auto-save has proven.
I can't reload to a previous save file because I don't have one, being that I am crazy and tried to take on the campaign without a single mid-game save. I am unwilling to reload the game and run the whole battle over again because it'd be the fifth time I've done so. So what I'm asking is, does anyone know any cheats by which I could somehow slip Delfador a few bandages under the table? I swear that's all I need.
On a side note, does anyone else think that the autosave feature would be a lot more useful if it only saved after the first move of a new turn?

So something like :unit hitpoints=20 for Delfador should do the trick here.

Or just use the old save-load cheat (If it has not been fixed yet): Save the game while Delfator is attacked and be amazed what has happens
Btw: 0,5^6 is about 0,016 if you tried it about 75 times you could have even surived

Or try playing it on regular speed (as opposed to accelerated) and saving each time the enemy misses.
I think Wesnoth 1.1.7 auto-saves at the beginning of each turn, and doesn't delete/overwrite any autosave until you get to the next scenario. I definitely appreciate it in situations like that.
(I know you're not looking for this, but ctrl-v shows all enemy moves, so you can check before you end your turn that none of your units can be surrounded.)
Good luck!

Savedgame
You also could edit the savedgame if you set "Binary saves" in the preferences to off. Then you can just look for Delfador and give him some HP. That's what I had to do once....

Well, if that's your only problem... There are two ways (they're already mentioned, but who cares?): 1. If you don't need Delfador to get XP (e.g. to get more HP), you can simply save while the enemy is attacking him. Just beware not to save when Delfador is hit! 2. If you need/want Delfador to get XP, you will have to save everytime Delfiboy survives one battle. (But then you should save by clicking on the menu button on the top of the screen)
Good Luck!
