Why archers should go so close to a creature they attack? I do not really understand that thing. One of the most effective ways of playing the archer is to attack an enemy from a long distance. It is quite usefull sometimes.
Another thing is, why can a creature stand on the water? May be, it is a bit unfair - the landscape gives a creature only a position (strong or weak), but there are no cells you cannot get throung in this game.
Why?

Why?

If the game had this feature, I would only need a line of woses and a line of archers to win every battle.[/two cents before it becomes locked]

First read, then think. Read again, think again. And then post!
In case you didn't notice, he wasn't suggesting anything, merely asking why things are the way they are. The reason, as far as I know, is that attacks spanning multiple hexes are complex; should a unit be able to shoot over another unit or over terrain like mountains, for example? Also, another main reason is that it's much more difficult to write an AI that can uses "real" ranges effectively.toms wrote:This 'idea' has been proposed many times before, so it has been added to theFPI list.

Shallow water is intended to be shallow - to about waist level of a normal human, I think. Deep water, which is deep, is inaccessible to practically all land units.pioneer wrote:OK. But what about the water?
Normal land units can't cross deep water or canyons at all. And even flyers can't go through cave wall (or in newer versions, the impassable high mountains).
