Ive managed to complete this campaign but for some reason its gotten harder. If i tak the long route aroun the bottom of the map i get slayed by the loyalists but when i go through the mountains the orcs kill me or i run outta turns. Anyone got a good easy strategy??

Well, this is how I finished it on Version 1.1, medium difficulty.

Only recruit/recall one castle load of troops, preferably fast ones. On the very first turn, start moving your heroes due west. If you recall fast troops, they should be able to catch up easily.

Simple keep moving west on fast as possible across the plains, between the hills to the north and the river to the south. Do not enter the hills. They slow you down, and if your are still in them at nightfall the orcs will simply shred you. Going across the plains, you should only encounter the odd enemy unit (human or orc, doesn't matter). Use your regular troops to kill them quickly. If you run into enemies that you can't dispatch in a single turn, then make sure you get your hero units past them, then put your regular troops inbetween your heroes and the enemy units. Whatever you do, do not stick around and fight. You will get bogged down and more enemies will zero in on you.

Your goal is to get Konrad into the Elvish castle in the forest in the North-West corner. Once your troops reach the forest you are safe, the forest is swarming with friendly elves.

Hope this helps :).

I went southeast to the river, crossed, followed the river east until i could see the loyalist keep, then northeast between the loyalist keep and the ongoing loyalist/northerner battle.

thanks, guys. I managed to complete it by going into the bottom corner then heading north west past the snow field. Mainly because the orcs were winning and the humans were still in the corner.
But thanks to all your tips :D

No no no.

I always finish it with killing both enemies, it is then only way to get bonus!
The orc is easy to kill with some veterans -I suggest to use one or two dwarfs- and the starting units. For the human, keep a silver mage behind, and ase gryphons, Eonihar and maybe one paladin (or lancer, both also to kill) to get the villages fo teleport. But ypou have to be fast and find the right moment.
First read, then think. Read again, think again. And then post!

I am almost certain you haven't played a recent version of this scenario. "Shredded" is not the right word do describe what happens if you try to take on the full armies (especially in SVN).
Hope springs eternal.

Yeah, most things in the campaign has being changed. When I replayed the HttT campaign I found it surprising that you didnt got to use the Gryphon Riders until Plunging In The Darkness scenario.Which really pissed me off since I´m playig hard and my tactic required Gryphon Riders. But very surprised when I got Guardsmen in The Lost general scenario.
