team-colored bowman EDIT: now lieutenant

Post by Mith »

If this (see image) is the way to go, i'll happily proceed ;)

the cap is weird, it has some transparancy in it, but so had the original image. I used today's svn image.

Oh, i choose not to edit his leather armour, only his cap and boots. The armour could be editted as well, but that might be overdone.
(nevertheless, if you want it done, you'll get it done)

EDIT: done them all, see attached tar.gz removed, they where no good.

The TColored portions need to be precise colors.

see: TColor Tutorial
Enableing Color shifting is a big job. your help will be welcome.
Feel free to PM me if you start a new terrain oriented thread. It's easy for me to miss them among all the other art threads.

Have been reading that TC twice (and now again very carefully) and perhaps I finally grasp what it says:

Replace the colors that should TC-shift with one of the magenta's in the red bar given on the wiki. Is that right?

Your comment about my image is: use EXACTLY the colors from the magenta bar. Is that right?

If so, I'll see what I can do.

Edit: some comments about the color of his armour?

edit: attached a 'new' version, using the color bar from the wiki. Is this any good?

It looks a bit silly, IMO.

Please don´t TC the whole feet, and I don´t like the bright pink.

Can you colour other parts of it, like the arrows?
First read, then think. Read again, think again. And then post!

I am afraid this is a little 'off topic', the pink colors are part of the team color definition. They won't apprear pink in the game, see the TC tutorial.

Question to the devs: should or shouldn't I TC the armour? In the image below, you can compare the bowman with and without tc'ed armour.

agreed, try leaving the bottom half as leather.
and I don´t like the bright pink.

silly rabit pink is for team colors. Here is an approximation of what it will look like in game for team 1 using the TeamColorize.pl script here:

yeah, the feathers would be nice.

the feathers are indeed cool, though they cannot be colored (I think) in other frames.

I'll await Jetryls opinion about the armour and the boots before I'll continue.

EDIT: I'm afraid I already know his opinion: Stop working on it!
Stupid me. the Bowman has been done already
It didn't appear so in SVN, but see http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10062

Jetryl, assign me some other unit instead. I'll see what i can do with it next week.

Don't create new team colored base frames. Instead, create new team-colored animations for units that already have new base frames.

I just realize how to do them real fast. By just selecting an existing color, and then switching it to the TC color, and then all pixels of that color, change to that specific TC color. And anybody who wants to use that program can download it from Sourceforge.net

The program is called "JDraw"

then you all would steal my Drawing Program :P I'm just kidding. It's a java application, so it should work regardless of operating system, and you don't even have to install it.

The Grunt has already been done, and is included in the last release (1.1.1).

ok, I would really like a list of stuff that needs to be done. I know there is a list of animations to do, but a list of stuff that hasn't been done would be cool too.

We aren't really welcoming contributions in that department unless they're very well done, which yours are not.

And read the tutorial, or you'll be wasting all of your work (as you've done so far):
