I redid knee thing, making it drape closer to the end of the lacing, and made the lower ones seem to do something, by making them 'tighter'

I never shut up. The hqair can still be improved a lot, even if it´s good right now.JW wrote:The last changes make it look a lot better in that area. The rest of it already looked great. Nicely done Thrawn.
It looks like..er...not like many seperate hairs.

i think the face is a bigger problem, IMhO the nose is a bit too far right, and the face in general is a bit too blurred, im guessing thats to make it look like the magic is lighting it, but to me it doesnt really have that effect. and if those massive pointy things are ears they need to be tuned down a bit, also isnt she supposed to have a staff?
Ssshh! I'm secretly male.
I agree, but she doesn´t have to use a staff because it hasn´t to be the same as the sprite, and in 'reality', not all druids will look identic.im the one you think of wrote:i think the face is a bigger problem, IMhO the nose is a bit too far right, and the face in general is a bit too blurred, im guessing thats to make it look like the magic is lighting it, but to me it doesnt really have that effect. and if those massive pointy things are ears they need to be tuned down a bit, also isnt she supposed to have a staff?

I disagree with all of these assessments.im the one you think of wrote:i think the face is a bigger problem, IMhO the nose is a bit too far right, and the face in general is a bit too blurred, im guessing thats to make it look like the magic is lighting it, but to me it doesnt really have that effect. and if those massive pointy things are ears they need to be tuned down a bit, also isnt she supposed to have a staff?
Looking better. Although it probably would be good if you had a much larger resolution and scaled it down every time you posted - that way, the final images can be an arbitrary size, and isn't fixed at 205x205 pixels.
the strand of hair that comes down on the left side of her face in front of her doesnt' appear to follow the curvature of her... chest. Looks odd to me, although I'm not sure it's incorrect.

I should, but unfortunately I don't--I will keep higher res for rest of pictures. As soon as i have a scanner, I have two elven captain style potraits.turin wrote:Looking better. It's supposed to be blowing slightly, like other hair, but is a bit off. Thank you.

*I need to make ears better (right now they are just outlines anyways)
*fix hair strand
*The nose, if I was attempting a realistic pictuer should align with the chin, but to late to change the entire style now
*Same with the hair

I think the bold points are stylistic choices. I like the style. The hair you might change without losing the style, but the others I'm not so sure.Thrawn wrote: *I need to make ears better (right now they are just outlines anyways)

Just to let you know that those things aren't "wrong." I'm not saying whether you should change them or not.

I know, but I see problems with the ears anyways--never shaded/anti-whatevered them, so here we go again.JW wrote:I think the bold points are stylistic choices. I like the style. Als, should I just start a new thread for more art, since this is so long, or just continue, and update the title? I prefer thesecond option, but...

[flame]Do every elf-like creature need to have 25cm long ears?[/flame]
Ok, i know, world of warcraft set the tendance but still, i can't help but find that awkward.
I agree with toms about the weird looking flower and the light effect which should go over the character (maybe reduced a bit)
Maybe the 'tentacle' thingies should be a bit brighter, to match with the light sphere colors. And there should be a hint of dark where the hand is supposed to be, if it is between the observer and the light sphere.
Anyway, this portrait is progressing very well!

elves are supposed to have long ears!! It's not just Warcraft, as seeing as I don't play warcraft--it's how I invision elves--been drawing them for years. In almost every fantasy book I read, elves have long tapered, lobeless ears--hence the drawing.Squig wrote:[dumb comment]Do every elf-like creature need to have 25cm long ears?[/dumb comment]

I will change light tentecles, but without serious effort I can not remove the glow, and in any event I like it. The flower I change to make look more flowery, so as I progress I will be changing it.Squig wrote:I agree with toms about the weird looking flower and the light effect which should go over the character (maybe reduced a bit)
