irc chat for linux-ubuntu?

This is a last resort. I use ubuntu and i can't find a way of getting to irc.

Use fx X-chat, it's probably installed per default.

X-chat and irssi are installed by default on ubuntu.

X-chat is propably more beginner-friendly, but if you please you may as well try irssi. It's completely text-based though, so if you're afraid of it don't try it.
