I must say, I really REALLY hate the concept of werewolves being "contagious;" the whole lycanthropy approach (getting bitten, becoming a lycanthrope). Having werewolves with some degree of culture (language, weapon-crafting, etc.) is completely incompatible with this model.
They ought to be a race of wolfmen, not a bunch of humans sharing the same disease or curse or whatever you want to call it. That whole horror-flick concept is just too junky for Wesnoth.

I will not tell you my corner / where threads don't get locked because of mostly no reason /
because I don't want your hostile disease / to spread all over the world.
I prefer that corner to remain hidden /
without your noses. -Nosebane, Sorcerer Supreme

OK, I have tried to come up with some stats, but I have absolutly no idea if they are balanced... Probably not...
Try tokeep in mind that the Werewolves will not have any ranged attacks, and will also be vurnarable to pierce, I think...

I'd take out the level 4 Werewolves, and take awake the skirmisher ( and maybe the nightstalk too ) ability/ies from the Stalker line. Better yet, take away its backstab ability! If a Night Eye gets in a position were it can backstab something, it can do up to 78 damage! That with Nightstalk and Skirmisher would be insanely funless. Not to mention if you had two of them ( in a campaign or super super heros era ), you could take out the enemy leader in just a few turns.
The other level four units aren't really needed unless you're in a campaign, and even then it's better to just not have them. Not to mention, less work for the graphic artist.

Definitely. They would eat their victims, not bite them and then let them turn into more werewolves, who the original would then have to compete for food with.Doc Paterson wrote:I must say, I really REALLY hate the concept of werewolves being "contagious;" the whole lycanthropy approach (getting bitten, becoming a lycanthrope).

IMHO, a werewolf culture is doomed to failure. What is IMHO more interesting is the traditional (NOT bitten -> werewolf) approach... but do whichever you want.

You are right, backstab will be removed.yeahthatguy wrote:Better yet, take away its backstab ability! If a Night Eye gets in a position were it can backstab something, it can do up to 78 damage! That with Nightstalk and Skirmisher would be insanely funless.
Why is a werewolf doomed to fail? I can't see why orcs or trolls for example would be more civelized... IMO werewolves would be more civelized...turin wrote:IMHO, a werewolf culture is doomed to failure. Nope not yet. I have tried some art myself, but it kinda sucked, so I'll have to practice... a lot...Assasin wrote:has any artwork been done? I would be willing to test the unit on my campaign.

because werewolfs are by nature feral and untamable. Trying to societize(:)) them would lead to internal conflict, constant warfare, ans assured distruction.Jester wrote:Why is a werewolf doomed to fail? this goes for they're/their/there as well

Have you ever watched Discovery Channel and saw a program on wolves? They have a strict hierarchie. So the argument that the are feral so they wouldn't be able to have a culture/community does not count...Thrawn wrote:because werewolfs are by nature feral and untamable. Anyway, I would appreciate it if I could get some more feedback on the units...

Ok I tried my first unit image. It's the basic Werewolf.
@Jining, I gave the Rabid Wolf berserk on the fang attack.
