How did you find out about Wesnoth?

I found it on Apple's software download site: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/
It's a fun story.
It was a dark, cloudy day outside. We were on the first floor of the school, the computer studies room. I was about to fall asleep of boredom, when suddenly I heard someone calling my name. In my half-sleep I thought it was the voice of a beautiful elven sylph, welcoming me to the dream realm, but when the voice suddenly shouted, I realized it was actually a horrifying female orc (my computer studies teacher). She said "My computer, on the double, write this program!", and handed me a sheet with some indefinate scribbles on it, and as I looked at it, bewildered and confused, I sat down on the computer...
I was stunned for the next 5 minutes, and couldn't recollect my sences. Then I just looked at the desktop, and there it was: a scroll-shaped icon with a big "W" written on it. And under it was a sign proudly stating the words: "Battle For Wesnoth". Not willing to do the terrible orcish slavedriver's bidding, I dicided to be a rebel and double clicked on the icon.
That was the most amusing computer studies lesson ever.
The results were that I got an "F" at programming, but I found out about this game.
And I DON'T regret it.

We can learn from the past, but those days are gone, we can hope for the future, but there may not be one...

I found it purely by Accident, by clicking on a link on the website of one of the members of the CGG (Christian Gamer's Guild). Definitely worth finding... And last night I played my first ever MP against Dragonking! I may upload the replay later... I saved it for posterity, being my first time playing a human, and it may be instructive for newbies.... Assuming chat gets replayed as well, since we discussed tactics and my mistakes along the way. I do want to make it clear in advance that he was going easy on me, and it was about 0100h his time.
But anyways, that's my story.

Definetly, i have taken the time to write up exactly the summary of Battle for Wesnoth as written in Macworld (UK)Assasin wrote:yah! The publicity works!
I think the team should be very chuffed, this is great news for the game and certainly attracted me into buying it. The whole review (about half a page) talks of the complexity, and brilliant "shape" of the game with much credit. The game was given 5 stars and I think that the author has described Wesnoth extremely accurately, and hope it has taken the notice of many other readers in the UK.Macworld Magazine (UK) wrote:"While its graphics may not match those in million-dollar games, The Battle for Wesnoth is deeply engaging for RTS nuts. It's a classic game - easy to learn but with hidden complexities that male it hard to master, and terribly addictive. The decision to assign personalities to induviual units is genius. It's also important to note that even in easy mode Wesnoth is challenging to win, and with so many timed levels it's easy to lose just before your master stroke. For me, Wesnoth is a welcome find and highly recommended."
Well done guys, you are giving a great impression

I'm stunned. It's not easy to get 5 mice from macworld. 4, sure. 3, yes as long as your product doesn't actually injure the user. But 5 is an achievement.
Hope springs eternal.

I go to the underdogs.org often, but ironically I found it just doing a random search on google one day for "freeware strategy games" I think was the listing?
I purchase maybe 20 CPU games a years and this or CIV4 are the best game I have played. WoW was pretty amazing too, but i got that at the end of last year. The game is amazing and great and I hope to conribute in whatever small way I can.
