Development of Wesnoth continues in two branches. The stable 1.0 branch which mostly will reiceive bug fixes and such and, a development branch which will get new features, new art etc. Some of it will probably be backported to the 1.0 branch also.
The unstable branch will probably get somewhat frequent dev releases just like before 1.0.

The concept of "v2" is not necessarily valid -- Wesnoth is a project, not a product. Development is ongoing. There will be future releases of Wesnoth. What the version numbers of those releases will be depends on how drastic and incompatible the changes are. It is unlikely that any changes major enough to justify a change in the most significant digit of the version number will occur soon. But really, it's completely arbitrary.
Bug fixes will probably be released as 1.0.x, where x > 1 and increases with each bug-fix release. New features will probably be released as 1.x.0, where x > 0, and increases with each new (incompatible) set of features (and bug-fix releases to those versions will be 1.x.y). Someday there may be a version released so revolutionary that it deserves to be called v2, but I suspect that is not what you're asking for.
Open source is evolutionary in nature. Changes come in a more-or-less steady stream, not (usually) in gigantic leaps. Asking about v2 betrays a misunderstanding of the process. Unless you'd care to explain exactly what you mean by v2, i.e. what it is that you're hoping for here?
Again, project. Not product.
