Download All option
I think that is a good idea to add a "Download all" option on Download Campaigns dialog.

No, that would be a bad, evil, horrible thing to do. There are already 40 campaigns/eras/content packs on there, only about 20 of which are any good. There is probably over 100 MB. Even with a relatively fast connection, say 100KB/sec (which is what I have, after taking into account my dad's bittorrenting), it will take 10 minutes; think of the pain people with slower connections would experience. (I used to have a 20KB/sec one, so it would take almost an hour for that download.)
And, the number of items on that server is only likely to improve, whereas the quality of the content there is not likely to increase proportionately.
I think what would be likely to happen is, people would go on the server, see "download all" button, hit it, then see it wait for 5 minutes, and say "this is stupid. Wesnoth is a dumb game. I'm not going to play it any more".

With the web interface you could probably start many downloads at once.
I agree it wouldn't be the greatest idea. Not necessarily evil, but it seems like the kind of feature that wouldn't be used very often. The size of the download would rival that of the game.

not a download all button, but tick box to download would be better than download, install, go back in and repeat. That is so annoying
So it should be tick boxes to download

In terms of client-side bandwidth I think it'd be okay.
The main problem is lots of people might do it, and it could take a toll on the server's bandwidth, which is far more likely to be a precious commodity.
If we want to add options like this, we will definitely want to add Zlib support to Wesnoth and support real compression.

What you probably want is a refresh all button.
The client would check to see which campaigns were missing or had different versions and only downloaded those campaigns.
I may submit a patch to allow the campaign server to keep track of last update times. That way I could have the web interface show you the most recently updated campaigns and you could fairly easily tell which ones had changed.

I already suggested another button "download more" on the dialogbox after a download,The Raven wrote:not a download all button, but tick box to download would be better

to skip the steps disconnect / reconnect / get campaign-list again.
