HEY! drake witch is a very good idea actually(heh neo?) drake witch could overtake tribalist =) with fire magic(but dont all drakes use fire already?). How about drake witch that uses wind! ie.hurricane, tornado(from daiblo2).
You cannot ride a roller coaster if you are under 4 feet tall unless you are older than 16 years old.
no guns in wesnoth. remember?
(I don't remeber the acronym)

Oh no look out its a ray gun.
You should move to avoid the rays
the rays are coming out of the gun
if you are hit by the rays
you will be shot by the rays
the rays are fast so you should be fast to
can you win against the fast rays from the gun?

we had a near flame war over that when I joined, andapparently there was one before I joined.
it was setteled with the fact that it isn't a gun. its a thunderstick.
(it fire metal ball and uases gunpowder to do it! IT'S A GUN CALLED A THUNDERSTICK!)

but i prefer the hammer option

It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight in your face.
You were content to let me shine
You always walked a step behind.

Where does it say that, how do you know it even fires a metal ball, it could for all you know scare the hell out of a opponent when the fire is unleashed, doesn't necessairily use gunpowder either, theres plenty of explosives around, say potassium....

Yet, no matter what you say, 99% of players who play BFW think that the thunderer wields a gun. If you tell them that no, it uses runecraft or whatever, I can bet you that most would say "sure, but it looks like a gun."
"Thunderstick" is what a stereotypical primitive person says when confronted with a gun. It has obviously been never used in mythology. Heck, even Gary Larson agrees with me. (there's one strip that jokes about two bears that are looking at a gun on the ground; one says to the other: "'Thunderstick'? You actually said 'Thunderstick'? That, my friend, is a Winchester 33").
Saying that a thunderstick is somehow not a gun even though it looks exactly like one is like saying that Martin Luther King was an alien but simply LOOKED like a civil rights activist. Sure, with his alien technology or whatever we wouldn't be able to tell, but the best us uninformed, ignorant people can make of him is that he was an activist and there's nothing you can do to change our opinions. As far as we, the masses, are concerned, there ARE guns in Wesnoth. The gun-people won that war pretty decisively because the anti-gun people focused too hard on the word "gun" and not on the concept "gun".
/end rant. Sorry about the off-topicness, but this whole thread was a joke anyways and the whole gun thing was too ridiculous not to comment on.

don't tell me thta I j ust revived this flame war....
no one argue with him.
look for topics on it, it has been stated by either scott or dave that it isn't a gun.

Seeing as how a forum post buried deep inside the enclave of these forums has no effect whatsoever on what the masses think my point still stands. Unless you make it explicitly clear in the game that the gun is not a gun the masses will not realize it and, for all intents and purposes, it's a gun. Sure, it might "technically" be a rune-blaster thingy, but it serves all the same functions as a gun and looks exactly like one. Might as well call it what it is: a gun.
Unless someone who goes to all the bother of trying to counter my arguments does a much better job than you did, unsung, don't worry... I don't really feel like flaming people who do not see my point or effectively counter it. I'm not making any more posts on the subject unless someone manages to decisively do so (to my satisfaction).
Here probably ends my participation in this discussion.

The anti-gun people also go by another name: developers. They already removed a bunch of guns from units that had them in the deeply buried forum posts you didn't read. If the game were being made to please or cater to the masses in any way, then it might matter. I'm not sure exactly what you're arguing for since everyone concedes everyone else's points on this issue: technically it's not a gun, and many people think it is anyway. Great. Where are the flames?Phyvo wrote: The gun-people won that war pretty decisively because the anti-gun people focused too hard on the word "gun" and not on the concept "gun".
Hope springs eternal.
Wesnoth acronym guide.

I wasn't around to experiance the whole gun-removing thing, and someone ELSE had said that it was flame war, so that's what I assumed it to be. They also posted what they thought was the conclusion to it. Someone doubted the validity of that conclusion... that the thunderer had a thunderstick, which wasn't a gun. Disto came up with a silly argument to support the idea that the thunderstick wasn't a gun. I responded to that silly argument and the idea that Wesnoth has no guns whatsoever (which someone posted as some official viewpoint), using "flame war" details as they were described to me within this thread.
I had no idea that many other units had guns which were removed and that does not invalidate my point: Wesnoth has guns. I say nothing beyond this.
I can see how other units having guns would become a problem though...
