Hey! I wanted that! (stdout problem)

I'm running 1.3.12 on Windows XP here, and have a problem. I can't get access to the standard output, because stdout.txt is locked exclusively while the game runs and deleted when it exits. I haven't found a way to redirect the output somewhere other than stdout.txt yet either. This is inconvenient,...

The Headless Horseman

Another totally random contribution :) Bit late for halloween, but oh well. Sometimes it amuses dark wizards to make heinous mockeries of their once-mighty foes, and have them serve in their legions. A particular favourite is the headless horseman, which is exactly what it sounds like; a mounted war...

A Turn-Based Real-Time Strategy Game

This post ties into some of the discussion here about finding a middle ground between TBS games and RTS games. I decided to post this as a new topic instead of resurrecting the old thread. I was recently thinking about turn mechanics for a hypothetical turn-based strategy game where all units move s...

New Unit for Undead vs. Undead?

I hope this doesn't look like idea spam, it's just that lately I seem to have a lot of the things relating to Wesnoth... and if I post them then maybe, someday, somebody will find one useful. This one was inspired by this post in JW's strategy guide, where he says the following: You never want to se...

New Feature Suggestion: Threat Highlighting

The proposal : When the player has selected one of their own units, all visible enemy units that could attack the selected unit on the next turn would be highlighted (perhaps by a red glow or outline). As the player moves the mouse to select a path, the threat highlights would update along with the...

I had another thought about this. I think you could cover most of the interesting possibilities with just a single new weapon special. This special would be called "transforming" indicating that the unit has to transform to use the attack. An attack with this special would be available onl...

Who wants a level 3 gryphon rider?

Well, whether you do or not, here's one I drew. :) He doesn't have his alpha channel done yet so he appears in a big white box in game. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to fix that in Paint (which is all I've got to work with right now) and I'm too tired to do anything else about it at the moment.

Indeed it is... it's the best thing I could think of when registering (there wasn't much competition :)). I'll probably change it for something more amusing and less confusing later, when I think of something better...

It sounds like it would over complicate things more than it is worth. As of right now there are olny two orders you accualy issue an unit. Move to destination, Attack target. There is no other way to issue a command other than those. You could have to do some seriouse mods to the set-up and then al...
