I'm quite fond of Audacity. It works on Win32 and Linux (I run the latter.)

I'm back! Anything to review?

Sorry for my long absence! I'm back and I'd love to lend my ear to any pieces you're considering for review.

I also found a decent XM tracker for Linux so I could theoretically write something, but I'm no virtuoso. :)

Perhaps I'll do some sound effects. ;)

Timothy: I couldn't tell you if she meant it as a compliment or a slam either--she just said it. ;) I would assume a compliment though, most likely for the reasons you stated. I was left a little boggled about why she said that, but it makes sense now because it sounds similar to other things she's ...

Gameplay02: Awesome work!

I haven't really sat down and tried to pick it apart by its merits, but on initial listen, GamePlay02 is awesome. Simply awesome. A lot of your touches and subtle hints do not go unnoticed. I really like the reprise of section A, and a lot of your bridge work. I'm not too sure about your panning--my...

The biggest problem with converting ogg to mp3 is that mp3 is a patented format. You actually have to pay patent royalties for the encoder and also to distribute (!) mp3 files.

This is why Wesnoth uses ogg vorbis.

(I'm back! Sorry I was gone so long.)

Well, I'm doing this review in between source control checkouts and builds, so don't mind me if I don't explain everything. I try to be verbose (Aleksi isn't, really) And the general midi is definitely not good. I hear the bell synth, but you need to add some stuff on top of it. I've seen some Midi ...

I'll see if i can get a review in to aid you in your endeavors. Currently compressing old files and monitoring a keyboard in the dishwasher.

The dishwasher makes noise...this makes it difficult for me to hear your song properly. :)

Dapper works. However upgrading to Dapper is A) not for the faint of heart and B) not recommended because it's so new.

I've added a request for 1.0.1-1 to be added to Breezy Backports.

I'm currently upgrading my system to Dapper (I'll let you know if it breaks, I have my girlfriend's windows machine behind me I can borrow) and wesnoth packages were slated to be upgraded. I'll let you know how it goes. If so you can be crazy like me. If not...well, we'll try to find another source ...

http://packages.ubuntu.com/breezy/games/

This contains version 1.0-1.

http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/games/

This contains version 1.0.1-1.

So one way we could upgrade is to upgrade to Dapper. :)

Whoops

I'm seeing 1.0-1, not 1.0.1-1 as the latest version in Ubuntu Breezy. Hence the wiki is wrong. :( Someone wanna update it? I'll try getting on IRC and figuring out who to ask about upgrading the package, if that's done. Haven't quite figured out that logic yet; perhaps our repositories are wrong, or...

Since I added the bit on how to get Wesnoth for Ubuntu to the wiki, I figure I should respond here. :) Synaptic does say 1.0-1 for wesnoth. Is the latest version 1 dot 0 dot 1 or 1 dot 0 dash 1? There is a difference as far as the Ubuntu folks go (even though I haven't been using it for long, I've c...

You could add similar sorts of 'vermin animals' to the race to add to Turin's suggestion.

I'm thinking of things like:

Raccoons
Moths
Bats

The problem is that bats fly (kills your idea of non-flying faction) and undead have bats already. Moths also fly. Raccoons however do not. :)

Hey, it was a suggestion; take it or leave it. You've voted to leave it. Fine by me.

However, I'd appreciate it if you've had your coffee before commenting on my next idea :P
