Drake Arbiter die animation

Post by Skater-Girl »

I've tried to make an animation of a dying Drake Arbiter. Hope it's not so bad.

Well, it's basically a frankenstein with little to no additional material. Also, when Drakes die, they spontaneously combust and melt into ashes.

I'm not sure that's stated anywhere but in those old 1.0-era sprites which were already inconsistent on their own.

  1. Read this.
  2. Block out the animation. It helps you get the motion right and, if you post it up, gives us a chance to give crit
  3. Now you can start shading.
Also a little further reading reguarding death animations

What I will say is don't limit yourself to what's already been done, there's plenty of choice for any kind of animation so use it.

I'm seeing a lot of blurriness in this animation, and the movement is all on the same plane... which leads me to believe that you applied the rotate tool. Blurriness is bad, especially at sprite scale, when one pixel can change the impression of what the viewer sees. And it looks like he deflates like a balloon... don't be afraid to try and draw body parts from different angles, because that will greatly enhance the realism and quality of the animation.

Yes, it is still said:
This can easily be witnessed when one of their kind perishes in combat; its internal fire is released, burning their remains in to ashes.

Plus having the Drake explode instead of fall over is much cooler.

We do still intend to do the internal combustion deaths for drakes - hopefully with a common final few frames, like the WCs. This is not up to mainline standard. It is select/slide/rotate work.

Mooved to art workshop.
