Nice cleanup on the death animation. As has been said, the staff-poke animation is a good idea, but something will need to be done to make it look like it could do some damage.

I think it's essential that he have both hands on the staff (yeah, that will be a bit difficult, relatively speaking), and as he thrusts forward, his torso should lean forwards a bit (a pixel or two).

If you've ever seen a football player bowl into someone, they lean way-the-heck forward.

I think that what Jetrly means is something like this.

and starting from about here, using two hands, would make it look alot better.

(yes I do realise that it is pretty crappy, but I basically made it in five mins as a demo)

BTW Jetryl I just read your bow animations tutorial, do you want me to re-do the one I have made before I do the north & south animations.

If you want to. The biggest thing that needs to be corrected is that his bow and arm need to rise up, by either 2 or 3 pixels (I've measured). Other than that, the animation is basically perfect.

You're doing a great job with these things.

I have done the alteration to the bow anim, but it looks odd to me.

should I do the first two frames again (and not tilt the bow) or try again, (I get the feeling that it's because I didn't shorten the bow as i 'twisted' it.)

I also get the feeling that I should make him shift his leg forward, but I am too tired to do any more to it right now. Will finish it tomorrow.

What about an underhanded jab? Assuming he's facing to the right, he could spin the staff parallel to the ground with his right hand, then grab it with his left and thrust forwards...

I think it should look like he's an old man frantically jabbing a button on an elevator. :D

You wanna get NUTS!!! LET'S GET NUTS!!!!

OK,

This is the initial attempt at an overhand chop. You'll notice 2 things right off, his body doesn't move forward too much, and his hands don't extend as far as they possibly should. The reason for this is the size constraint. I'm right up against the right hand side of the space with the last frame, and I couldn't move anything anymore to the right or I'll end up cutting off the head of the staff. I'm open to suggestions.

The other interesting thing is that this initial attempt was all done in 256 colors, not RGB. This is why I'm not attaching a download, just the gif. My bad. I didn't notice until I came to save it. Before I do anything else I'd like feedback. :-) I think I need one more frame to finish off the downswing, but I wanted everyone's opinion first.

No, the only thing I noticed right off was the 90-degrees-in-one-frame swing. It doesn't even look like a swing! I think the frame in which it is vertical should have the staff rotated 30 degrees clockwise, approximately. Or add more frames.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

The most attack frames have a "swish-stripe". Good example: Delfador.

Ok now we're talking. I agree with the above critiques - maybe another quick frame on the downswing and a frame after he hits.
Hope springs eternal.

Yeah, this animation is better-but I woul like if he strikes with the other end off the staff.
Just personally.

I have finally managed to find a bit of time to finish off the orc archer attack animations, but I would like Jetryls opinion on this first.

should I keep it like this, or change the bow to being upright?

ps these frames are the beginning and middle frames
