Wow.
the texture of her dress.. Wonder hwo you achieved that? It really feels that it is a texture, not some plastic.. And the metal part of ther outfit... And everything nicely putted together. It may be no Royo or Vallejo, but it is incredibly outstanding work, the best of what I saw on the Wesnoth art forum.

This is a masterpiece. Jetryl, you've really outdone yourself this time.
The best digital picture I've ever seen (and one of the best in overall).

me: Welcome to the real world. If everyone says your art and opinions suck, it's because they DO suck. Even if you're too damned proud/stupid/both to realize it.

Y'know, I think that someone should make new unit images for princess and battle princess. Is this portrait commited yet? If not, it should be commited right away.

Goto http://www.k10k.net and click on pxlpatterns. You might find some gems in there. most of them can be used as long as you credit the author but there are a few that arn't so available.Jetryl wrote:Photoshop displacement maps are your friend. I need more such patterns, BTW, if you find any good sites for them, please refer me to them. And use your heads, folks - no gaudy, non-fabric patterns, please; only things that could really go on cloth.scott wrote:How did you do the dress pattern?
Signature dropped due to use of img tag
My only complaint on Lisar is that I can't tell where one leg begins and another ends. It all just looks like one leg with an extra boot sticking out somewhere behind... In combination with the placement of the rear boot it makes her leg/legs confusing. Took me awhile to notice it. Great job otherwise. Though her expression will still seem odd to me with the text from beginning of HttT when she's trying to kill you.
Is there any kind of thing like this for the gimp?Jetryl wrote:Photoshop displacement maps are your friend. It was actually a whole host of *somethings*, one of the foremost that was goofing up the mirroring was a symmetric inconsistency in the hair (namely, one side was actually not falling down quite in the right direction. The eyes were also crap for a number of reasons.
So, I holed myself up in *the zone*, and I think I've managed to fix this fool's face. Doing so is a real big turnabout for this portrait, as the technical salience of the facial construction is one of the primary things that makes the difference between this portrait "looking good" and "looking wrong".
Remaining issues:
• his rear hand needs to be fixed, or completely redone.
• his cape needs to be tweaked for more *pretty* flow.
• his hilt needs wrappings
After that, the line art (the hardest part of one of these drawings, for me) is done. It's then a relatively short ride to the finished image - shorter than the time that's been spent so far.
