Ugh. I haven't been able to get my changes to work out, especially since the awesome lag on all operations is disuading me from the attempt.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

I'll say I agree on the point about the beatup rim, but clean center.
I like how Xan modded the "Wesnoth" texture.
But please, Woodwizzle, make "the battle for" the same font as "Wesnoth" or at least something more solid. The current font looks amateurish.
Plus, the dents in the shield rim are too perfect. They need slight curves, miniscule notches and ridges, etc within the dents.
But I will say, this is looking better all the time. I still don't like the rivets on the shield rim though. They look too "done in a 3D program" - with no beatup to match the rim.

I don't want to upset you, but I'd like to know what other people think about this. The shield should look a bit more realistic (but you can't do that with Inkscape, you need The Gimp)Tux2B wrote:There is one big problem with the shield logo.
The borders of it look like if it has been used for ages, whereas the center of the shield looks new. It doesn't look realistic enough for a professional logo.

Well, there was a version without dents IIRC. Shouldn't be too much work to do if someone wants to give it a try.
And there is no new background yet, so meh. Maybe beat up the rims and a slight darker tone on the metalic parts.

Logo needs to be darker altogether to fit somewhat better.
I think a barren landscape after a battle should do well with the logo. Some arrows, broken banner, grey dusk just starting, that kind of stuff.
But of course, the changes to the logo just keep coming...

When I look at that screenshot, I immediately think, "the logo is too big - it needs to be shrunk by at least 50%", and I can't make any judgements on it until I see it actually looking how it might in-game.

ILikeProgamming's version doesn't look professional. The orange color on the shield is in a bad font, which really doesn't fit.

it really, doesn't work with that. I suppose my idea of putting some of the units with the letters wouddn't either.
I think you should leave the text itself alone. its unique and pretty cool looking as it is.

Oh no look out its a ray gun.
You should move to avoid the rays
the rays are coming out of the gun
if you are hit by the rays
you will be shot by the rays
the rays are fast so you should be fast to
can you win against the fast rays from the gun?

True, the menu is done by overlapping, so changing the position would be easy.Disto wrote:He's not saying it should be it, he's saying that that is how it should be done. ivanovic wrote:Looking at the screen I see, that the whole of the screen should be changed, not only the logo. A nice logo is good to have, but this won't look good on the not really high quality background...
So please: someone make a completely new graphic for the background!

I'll try, but I can't guarantee it'll be done for 1.0 (the ball's in Dave's court with regards to that).
I think it is reasonable to expect that by the end of september, I'll be done with the core set of things I had wanted to do for wesnoth 1.0. Whether wesnoth 1.0 gets released before or after that is Dave's call, though I'd prefer that we at least get a certain few key graphical elements done before we start waving our banners...
