I like it being a bunch of dark dwarves.
Units:
guard - upgrades
technomancer - upgrades to guildmaster
scout (probably a golem)
standard golem (the bulk of tha army) - various forms
colossus
How about making the colossus a real ass-kicker but limited to one. The standard golem has upgrades/mods/variant forms which you need a technomancer to enact. Depending on their level they can change one golem into another eg change it from a close combat golem to a ranged attack golem to a flame thrower golem to a net throwing golem and finally back to a combat golem over the course of a scenario. The guards would be basic dwarves. Scouts would be some little thing to grab villages. Maybe a weak long-legged spider-like thing would be better than flyer if dwarves are in charge... better in a cave. The guards and technomancers gain experience as usual. The golems improve in some way based on how well the technomancers are doing.
Golems have great resistances apart from vs cold (I suspect Undead are going to have a hard time with this race otherwise).

Since seiryu seems to be going for a complete new and interesting faction. It doesn't sound like it would work by what's currently being aimed for. Sounds more like just a something that could be done as a scenario thoughsince it's dark dwarves and if they are using dark magic and devies that are powered by such thingsthe race as a whole might not be hardy as normal dwarves. Kinda shown by the unique necro from the capaign who it says grows weaker physically as he's exposed to the dark magic. Hence abundant technomancers since their all frail and if you want a suit artifact of some sort to augment there frailness. *shrug.
May the drakes bloody kill you all.
An idea for a level 0 unit:
Name: Swarm (a swarm of nanobots)
levels in itself
XP needed to level: 1
poison immunity
cost: 6 gold
attack 4-2 piercing damage
10 HP
+30% pierce resistance
-20% fire, cold resistance
You get a unit that must be killed in one attack or it'll restore its health, hard to kill with arrows.

Interesting idea. I think that if he is going to be so hard to kill, he should do less damage. Also, just so you know, poison immunity is basically pointless, unless it is a level 0 unit that poisoned him. (And that's how you would probably attack him, with level 0 units)...

You are right, I forgot that the effect of poison are cancelled levelling.Also, just so you know, poison immunity is basically pointless, unless it is a level 0 unit that poisoned him. (And that's how you would probably attack him, with level 0 units)...

I'd use level 1 units on him. Any decent level 1 unit has about a 50% chance to kill him, REGARDLESS of his advancement. 3 level 1 units is about what it takes to kill a Walking Corpse, and that would give you an 87% chance of killing this guy, not to mention that you may not kill it with the last one and thus the others will be available.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
What kind of golems are you talking about? Constructing amphibious vehicles is a rather daunting task...Seiryu wrote:what about this marine:
lvl 0: water golems ( for example )
->Navy golem
->Diving golem
lvl 1: Navy Golem
->Captain golem
lvl 1: Diving golem
->Treasure seeker (?)
(or: ->amphibic golem)
lvl 2: Captain golem
->Amiral golem

I don't think Captain and Admiral would be appropiate. It sounds like leadership, and i doubt golems can have leadership.
Just IMO.

Well, if you don't have the time and skill to go about making whatever it is you plan on making, you probably shouldn't make it...

It seems like what you are most in need of is graphics. They're really not that hard, even for someone with little skill; just base them off current units whenever possible, reuse body parts from one unit to another, and don't animate them. You'll end up with at least something useable, so then you can release it and try to generate interest. Until then, all you have is talk. And, personally, I'd rather work on either an idea of my own or something that already has significant work done on it than on something that is unlikely to succeed.
