Yikes, this thread nearly reached the second page! Can't have that.
I played the War of Terrador recently, and the Xylash infected-thingy unit really screamed for a remake, so I ended up creating this. Still a WIP, especially the tentacles, but it gives the general idea. Any thoughts on whether or not I should add a third tentacle for balance?

Heh... A third tentacle may look a bit strange depending on where you plan to place it...artisticdude wrote:Yikes, this thread nearly reached the second page! Can't have that.![]()

In the back.
Three limbs (arms/legs/tentacles) make a creature seem more alien-ish, because nothing on earth naturally has an odd number legs or arms, always an even number.

I just lost a lot of respect with you. Can't you think of things in a non-sexual way? I doubt many people will make your same mistake if he adds another tentacle.JackBarber wrote:Heh... Even if you add a tentacle, you need to change the existing legs to look like their resting on the ground. Right now they make him/her/it look like he/she/it's floating.

I'd give a bit more flex in the tentacles where they're on the floor (maybe use a naga-like single tail instead) but otherwise, this is looking very nice, good work =)

Oh... My...God.
What is everyone suddenly interested in TWoT and Sci-Fi all of a sudden?
Ill snatch that up, credit your name, and add for next release. Awesome work!

Whoa, whoa... hold on, I haven't finished it yet.
Glad you like it, but it still needs some work.
EDIT: Okay, I'll call this finished.

Uurg... sci-fi inspiration.
I'm having some trouble with the distinction of the left arm, any thoughts on that?

Re: artisticdude's art, critique welcome
You mean *its* left arm, not the one on our left, right? It's nearer to us, so it should have more highlighting and just generally be a bit more well lit--conversely, the one farther away from us should be slightly more in shadow. That will give a sense of depth, but fixing the issue will also solve your problem with definition. You've basically got the lighting reversed right now.
Also, one pixel plus outline is too thin--even the fleshless arms of mainline skeletons are generally two wide.

Excellent crit A-Red... that's just what I was looking for. Thanks.
It now looks much better, and the left arm (now its right arm, due to the horizontal switch) is much clearer.

Looks interesting... But it seems more like an actual alien than a mech. You going to continue on this (Make more similar) or what?
