I can't load the game for some reason. It told me this:

Re: Girl unDead
You could fix it yourself by going to the add-on folder, edit the scenario file with a text editor, and then go to the line mentioned in the error and replace the [/gold] with [/gold_carryover]bubhead wrote: ↑July 6th, 2022, 7:27 am I can't load the game for some reason. It told me this:

Re: Girl unDead
Hello, i seem to be having a problem with the 8th scenario "puppeteer".
The game doesnt seem to load Malica and the other characters. This makes the scenario a instant loss when it begins.
Im playing in Wesnoth 1.14, after checking the scenario file it seems that it also skips some dialogue and events.
Any help is appreciated

Re: Girl unDead
You have way better terrain (the castle tiles), a small, two tile passage where you can attack those two tiles from three, and healers. You can just turtle up and keep going until the enemy runs their gold in the negatives.
Though I agree that a siege like that is exhausting, I once played a map like this and it took me a better part of day (and I think I took out something like 15k gold worth of trolls).

Re: Girl unDead
After several attempts, I have completely ported it for Wesnoth 1.18 as version 1.4.1. Probably bug free. I had previously used a dedicated thread, but now that I have succeeded in a pure port, I think it would be better to use here.
Kame means turtle in Japanese. I chose this name because I love turtles and ramen.

Re: Girl unDead
The title could use a refresher. To my ear, "Girl Undead" sounds awkward, like a newspaper headline, memorandum, or perhaps even as generic as simply "Girl, age 17". Perhaps in keeping with the fidelity of the literal translation, we are losing context and/or style. Here are some alternatives which may be plagiaristic; they are less prosaic.
- Living Dead Girl
- Femme Fatale
- Death of a Girl
- Spirited Away
- Lady in Dirges
- Feminine Funeral Fury
etc. or could there be some catchphrase or idiom which is more apropos than the generic version of "Bond, James Bond" of funeral rites? I don't think as many would have read/watched Ian Fleming if the stories were titled "Male agent".

I'm tired.
Re: Girl unDead
imo, the name is fine as it is. The original author of this campaign is Japanese, that perhaps explain the unconventional naming, but at this point I think it's kinda iconic, and changing the name now would confuse people who doesn't follow this forum.howwitty wrote: ↑May 31st, 2025, 2:34 am The title could use a refresher.
