Not realising that "slows" halves damage as well as movement probably counts.
It is not long time since I found out the effect on movement...

Me too, I still went to it and won the scenario.

Being fully aware of it's effects, I often ignored time of day. (I still often do so, if I'm employing an attack against no retaliation, e.g. ranged attacks against units with no ranged attacks)

Kept recruiting a balance of all units, thinking they would always be useful.

Never recalled a unit that cost less than 20 to recruit, unless it was close to leveling.(didn't realize the value of some traits)

Never recruited a unit that had no ranged attack.

Always recalled every level 2+ in HttT, even units that were way out of place. Lost most of my knights in the caves the first time I played HttT.

I think I did the "recall all units" one a lot. I probably still tend to lean that way, because I don't usually have great recall lists and I need all the help I can get for tough battles.

On UtBS when I first started, I used to save-load hundreds of times, until the enemies didn't manage to kill my heroes or high level units. This was worsened by the fact that I had so many saves that it took ages to load each time. So long in fact that I filled loads pages of note paper with little car drawings while I waited, drawings which still occasionally turn up from below piles of manuals and HTML tutorials.

It was debug mode however, that really ruined Wesnoth for me. I no longer had to fight through every battle to get a "new and exciting" one, and now I just check out new campaigns like this.

I also did the thing on HttT where I didn't realise you had to reach the signpost, I could kill about 2 of the orc leaders, but thought the scenario was impossible  As I liked to play as elves, I was thus forced to use UtBS, see above...
