Re: villain finalized? (Art for campaign Bad Moon Rising)

Post by doofus-01 »

Here is a new sprite for the level one archer, the current sprite is a bad frankenstein. No animation frames yet, I think the bow needs fixing first.

Also, here is a portrait that kitty kindly provided. I still need to texture the cloth and hair, but I post it because the sprite needs to be in line with that portrait.

And here is the bow animation. I mostly followed the wiki tutorial, but not strictly since I wasn't using the elf bow.

Here is a noncombatant. There's a scenario where you need to shepherd them across the map. I'd been using Peasants, but it looked weird.

the eyes are a tad low--making the head a pixel taller, or moving them up a pixel will solve it though ^__^

Thanks, I see what you mean. Here's a second take. And a female version.

better, but I'd suggest removing the bottom pixel to the eye on our right...it will look loads better again ;)

You're right.

And here is a sprite for the level 3 leadership unit. The old sprite is a frankensteined master bowman with a sword and a spear, but I think that would be an awkward combination to actually manage.

k, this guy looks cool, but a few points:

1. the helm looks very flat...try looking at how other unit's helmet's are shaded, and try to emulate that.

2. Same with the armor--some highlights would help it greatly ;)

A (hopefully) better version.

LightFighter,

It looks like you're starting your own project now, but I would welcome any help if you're still interested.

I'll create a better roadmap on the first post, with a TODO list (not before tomorrow). But here is one standalone unit I need to change, both portrait and sprite:
huric2a.png
The sprite used right now is the Loyalist Marshall. The character is Prince Huric, the villain of the first half of the campaign and the guy mentioned in the intro. I can give more info if anyone cares...

Yes.....
It wil be better if we give him another portrait.
And the Ukian Subcommander needs a Shield Attack.
Or The Ukian Commander needs NO shield attack.
That's more balanced.
I also made a better subcommander sprite.

With respect to the shield attack, the unit .cfg's will need to be changed in the next update. Doing that will require people to start over, so I should get all such changes packed into as few releases as possible. But it's in the works.

As for the sprites: Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you just ran them through a filter...

In any event, here's an attack animation.

LightFighter's edits are good, as your work is always overly dark and a little bit smudgy for some reason.

Smudgy? I don't see it that way. As for dark, I like dark (though not flat, that was a mistake) and think it fits these units.

I'm not saying you two are wrong though. Thanks, I'll try to keep it in mind.

In any case, something else was wrong with the subcommander base sprite. I think this is better:
