My abilities lie in script, not in code nor in graphical art.

I am more than willing to write ups - I always enjoy them. I simply have to know what the unit/object is like and its purposes and use. The rest follows naturally, from all previous flavor ive been exposed to.

Abomination
"Arms and... other "appendages" stick out from it like some sort of crazed puzzle-maker refused to accept his pieces didn't fit right and so MADE them fit. Its incredible strength, as well as its toxic skin make it an incarnation of all that is wrong and horrible in warfare. -Usef Trall, last memoirs."

Evil Crab
"
'What's so hard to understand?'
'Why is it called an Evil Crab?'
'It's a crab, and its evil - what's not to get?'
'How is it that a crab can be evil? I mean, its a crab!'
'You see those villagers running for their lives over there?'
'Yeah...'
'Do you see the one crawling away without legs?'
'...Ugh...yes.'
'That's why its an evil crab'

-Lorn Ludrake and Sol Bontife at the battle of Sedham Ridge"

Greater Mutation
"It's bigger, it's meaner, it's uglier, it's smellier, it's tougher and it's even more toxic than its younger kin. And no - singing lullaby's does not make it fall asleep or like you - they only irritate it further and you do not want one of these things irritated at you.
- Drom Kordinale, explaining the differences of the Chaos to some recruits."

Hell Crab
"
'What's 10 feet tall, red, angry, has one eye, and looks worse than an Evil Crab?'
'Is this some sort of horrible joke where I say "whatevers behind me"?..... Hey, why are you running away? Where are you going?....'

-Last words of Lorn Ludrake"

Lesser Mutation
"What makes that putrid stink is anyones guess. But the purpose of this monstrosity is clear. It's scary, it hurts things, and whats more, what manages to escape is covered in a vile toxic substance that continues to eat away at the skin of its victims until properly removed by a healer. Oh, and you may notice parts and limbs you chopped off growing back - that happens. - Drom Kordinale, to his new recruits."

Maurader
"Having not had their fill of enemy trophies, headhunters who are particularly successful will start to seek out larger foes for better game, and better hunting. Always testing themselves, with a half-crazed wit, whiling around the landscape, they always appear where they are not welcomed, and leave only when they've gotten what they wanted."

Soulhunter
"Most head hunters hunt people for their heads, other's work in tandum with armies attempting to acheive some greater military pursuit. Soulhunters reach right inside you and rob you of yourself. - Ellwayth the Wise, recalling upon an encounter with a Soulhunter."

Overlord
"If you should ever come across a massive peice of moving armor, atop an armored horse, do not worry. For if you can see it, it can most certainly see you - and you can merely await your death with calm certainty. If there are others in line before you - it is wise to leave quickly. - Sanjul Korp, on being the sole survivor of the Hexham massacre."

I'm fairly sure the evil crab is going to be renamed once someone gets a better name idea...

Sidhe spirits don't regen in great trees. Should this be changed?

Black humour for the win.
I like it might be nice change in the descriptions.

It recently came to my attention that the wose shaman is a rather poor choice for levelling up, as you lose such significant Melee damage and gain so little hp that a recent poll of the people playing the game I was observing found that none of them would ever voluntarily choose a wose shaman, even to see the fine new graphics. I would highly reccomend you either increased the strikes of the ranged by one, or increased melee to 14-2 or 13-2.

I gotta say I disagree - it all depends on how you use wose.

For those whom use wose as their forward vanguard, punching a hole in enemy lines - then yes the shaman is typically a poor choice.

However - in cases where you want a SINGLE unit to hold back the hordes, while you opperate the rest of your army elsewhere, the SHAMAN and not the elderwose line is more appropriate.

Firstly, it has answered damage regardless of range, add slow to that range, and suddenly its incredibly resilient.

Blade and Fire are the only way to take down a wose, and fire typically comes at range, which means it's gonna be slowed - which mitigates the fragility of the wose. Blade damage usually never comes in high enough doses to outclass the wose in a single turn, and regeneration extends the life of the wose even further.

I for one have used the shaman on many occasions on the periphery of my territories, and have succeeded because i did not have to send more units in support.

A search through one of my Classical Greek dictionaries yields:

Code: Select all

Karkinos Kakos (evil crab) -> Pagouros Pagkhalepos (very dangerous crab)
Any votes for using the Greek?

Sounds a bit awkward.

If you're going to base it on another language, why not use the infraorder brachyura to which crabs belong, and fantasy-ise it a little to create a racial name?
eg:
Brachyan Scuttler
Brachyan Carver
Brachyan Crusher

(can't remember if there are 2 or 3 levels)

That's a neat idea, Erk, I could go for that.

Although, there is a certain ring to just plain ol' "Evil Crab". There's nothing terribly fantastic about the Chaos, really. You got demons, you got mutants, Evil Crab sort of follows suit!

This should normally work for great trees (Gg^Fet).

Feel free to change the Chaos Crabs names, i had no inspiration when i did make the names.
(would Lesser Crab / Greater Crab work ?)
Also some existing descriptions in the Chaos faction aren't very good.
