There are lots of missing portraits.
I understand doing some cleanup here and there, but if you are going to draw one from scratch, can't you find another subject?
If you are interested in drawing elves, I see most of the generic ones are missing, and I think it would be better for Wesnoth if we had the portrait for more units, instead of the many variations on Konrad, for example.
I understand it's hard to direct inspiration in a particular direction, but I think it would be beneficial if it were.

yes, and there are missing ones in tRoW. But changing styles completely looks tacky, as opposed to doing them all in your own style.luciano wrote:There are lots of missing portraits.

I will redo tham too if I have permission and time. If I found another subject to draw, that would defeat my purpose of redoing Jessica wouldn't it? And I have started elves from scratch too, just haven't posted them yet, because they are merely sketches either uncolored in GIMP or not drawn at all on a computer yet.

This game's art is made by people contributing to it. If someone doesn't like the art in game, they have every right to change it--especially as the old Konrad potrait was utter crap before it was changed. Bad example.instead of the many variations on Konrad, for example.
1)you can't force inspiration in the first place.I understand it's hard to direct inspiration in a particular direction, but I think it would be beneficial if it were.
2) If I only drew from inspiration, my art would suck. God only knows how long I practised until I got better.
3)It would be beneficial, but thats why people have determination as well.
Please do not clutter up this post with writing of no value--It makes me waste even more space answering you, and takes time from me actually reading other advice or improving the drawing. No offence, start an OT forum on people "redrawing Konrads" and the other wastes of inspiration, or PM me, but post artistic crit. here, not critisizing my self imposed project.

@annka:sorry, I'm Amish, obviously

Add a nice thrill to your computing life with the most dangerous of data transport, it even has a bit of a retro lookAnkka wrote:Why would anyone use floppies anymore?Thrawn wrote: but my inner artistic eye cringes from it and I can not bear looking at it. Plus, it doesn't seem to match the newest sprite for her. And i plan on redoing all of the art (especially the elves) if given encouragement from higher-ups and i can finally do acceptable work.
Plus, I'm trying to get them in te same type of style as the old ones anyways.
Note-I couldn't work on it becasue I lost the floppy over the weekend, so I'm just redownloading it now.

So let's keep to the topic, then.Thrawn wrote:

No offence intended, but frankly, the sketches you have posted look nowhere near as good as the current series of portraits.
The arms, to begin with, are not proportioned, and the posture seem unnatural.
