since also there are no occasionally coins dropped (when you have scavenger/bounty hunter) then its clear that there is no misunderstanding. so we have a problem.

i prepared another version. (4.8.2u)
will be up in a few minutes.

EDIT:
just give it a short run, with one hero at expert with scavenger or bounter hunter ability and tell me after slaying some 20+ creeps (on offense) if you have seen some coins drop.




btw, this one:
The following thing always happens (whatever the release of wesnoth / sxrpg): the very first map (the one just before you choose to be warrior, ranger and so on) is displayed perfectly but the "close" button is not visible; when i move the cursor to find the invisible "close" button, then the button becomes visible but in the same time all the text becomes blurry (so blurry it is unreadable).
well, you mean the "instructions" that should help to get started.

i know this problem, also happens on other computers with small displays. currently the setting is fine for 1024x768 or bigger. but smaller ones may suffer from the problem you just mentioned.

i guess your resolution is smaller than 1024x768?

is right now uploading :)
hopefully this fixes the problem with the non-displaying items on linux.

first check if there are the gfx in the "images/misc/loot" directory,
then give it a short run with a single hero AND give it scavenger or bounty-hunter ability, after killing lets say 20 creeps a few coins should have been dropped. if not, nothing got fixed :). then i have to ask the wml experts.

Hello, finally i found some help in the WML forum :)

Linux (and every other operating system we support that isn’t Windows, for that matter) uses forward slash ‘/’ as path separator, not backslash ‘\’. The path in your [item] tag contains only backslashes. On Windows, both characters are interchangeable and have the same meaning in paths, so if you want to make sure your add-on works for everyone you should stick to forward slashes.
for whatever reason i used a "\" in the path-description for the loot-drops. damn that you can get away in windows with a lot of crazy stuff. luckily i didnt use it anywhere else :)


so theres another version now up the server.


4.8.3v:
- finally been able to fix the bug, due to help from wesnoth forum.
for some reason i used backward-slashes in the filepath, got exchanged with forward-slashes.

items work now properly for all operating systems - hopefully



so now i hope the bug is gone, and everybody can enjoy he new version -
and i can concentrate on other, probably more productive things.
like porting to 1.12 for example - or working on the new map.
(and dont annoy players with new hourly versions ;))

Hi Mabuse,

I took a peek at the new Castle of Cantar today, I have to say I quite like the changes, although I'm sure I haven't seen all of them. I encountered a bug or two:

1.) After picking up the shield item from a boss, and trying to sell older and worse shield, the menu caused both shields to be sold.

2.) I found that my console was filled with messages like these:

ok, thanks for the bug-Report.

the shield-thingy sounds pretty annoying. will get fixed asap.
will also look for more potencial related Problems.

OK, the game-breaking bug (its surely game-breaking if you sell a weapon and another one is also sold)
is corrected. two other slight changes.

4.8.40:

- fixed bug that sold item-weapons as well as normal weapons when a normal weapon got sold in shop.
this was valid for reinforced shield and reinforced net.

- fixed bug for some item-weapon gfx. they were accidentally 100x100 instead of 72x72, which caused them to be
not in the center of the dropping hex. fixed.

- slight, player-beneficial item-drop change



EDIT:
About the console messages, well, i have to investigate what they mean at all.
of course reduction of such messages is appreciated

.. and help on that matter is also appreciated ;)

I was unable to get the add-on update for the new maps. Instead, I had to unistall SX RPG and reinstall it. I did see an update for Verson 4.8.40. (after unistalling and reinstalling) I like the artwork in the main shop menu.
If I spoke the truth, they would put me in a straitjacket. So, I left the society.

Hey,
yes, i like the artwork too, its all from mainline wesnoth and mainline campaigns :)
i think it adds some mood and its always a pleasure to watch nice pics of course.
(mentioning this - i think there yould be also some kind of randomizaton added)


about the
add-on update for the new maps
well, there are no new maps. all old maps got overworked -
Where most work was spend on evil dead, then cantar, a bit on wowII, and almost nothing new for ToB.

there is "only" a 4.8.40 update. any new maps will go of course into the main pack :)
(then it is version 5.X.X).

but most likely i focus first on porting it to 1.12. as soon the new stable version is out the 1.10 version gets abadoned (of course in a more or less bug-free state - at least gameplaywise).


i hope cantar and evil dead are now more challenging and more fun to play -

and there is a ton of things that i could/would like to implement.
like some kind of randomization for the spawning bosses for example (which could be very easily be implemented)

all for the new version. but first i have to beat cantar and evil dead. :)

ok, two more bugs got reported:

first of, even gold-crown bosses (leaders) drop items. this wouldnt be an issue, but the gold-chests which are usually placed beneath the leaders delete also the image of the item the boss drops. even if it is not taken.

second bug: spider lich gfx is broken, wrong magenta was used or is not set as team color. :)

both will be fixed soon


also: if you have item-ideas - feel free to tell them. new items will be added regularly.

Any reports regarding the balance?
has anyone beaten any of the (harder) maps yet?
(on expert difficulty)

my best guess is: if the difficulty is actually too high, it can be always compensated.
right now ALL creeps give -1 gold when killed.

it can be also changed that lvl 0,1,2 creeps give the old gold, and only lvl 3+4+5 creeps give -1 gold.
this would make the start a bit easier, but later game harder.

I found a bug.

When you pickup a bomb, it takes a potion slot as normal. However after you use the bomb, your potion MAX CAPACITY is permanently reduced. After the bomb I could only hold 2 potions max.


As for difficulty, the early game is still as hard as ever. But after turn 40 or so the difficulty is much easier than before.
