5Struggle.cfg:
message= _ "Stupid elves, we are masters of fighting underground and we will die to defend our home. Fight on, my brothers!"
The message was triggered by my troll shaman, so the mention of elves sounded (a bit) out of place. Filter by type? (It would be Ok if no message was triggered when trolls enter the dwarves cavern - trolls have been there before, probably.)

I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but in 5.4 theres a bug in the underground stuggle mission. If you side with the dwarves and have to cross the big pool of lava the instructions say
End on lava=-25hps can kill
end on lava+fly = -3hps can kill
end on stones = -3hps can't kill
this is true if you hit 0 hps, but if you dont (and it's pretty unlikely that you will) you will survive but go into negatives. Now if you climb out of the lava onto a stepping stone and end your turn, you'll begin the next round with 1hp. then you can use a healer to heal up.
Not that I'm complaining, siding with the dwarves is HAAAAAAAAAARD already.
On another note, the last mission is still the one where you capture the ships right? I'm dying for a new one.

guest, thanks for fixing my dialogue. I'll go back and edit those sections.
Majidah, it sounds like the lava isn't killing units properly. Scenario 5 is one of the first scenarios I plan on going back to and fixing and soon as I conclude the campaign. I hope to release something this weekend.

quartex, you're welcome. I have enjoyed the campaign.
Still a couple in a row from 6bTroll.cfg's end:
Elyssa: "--. The is just so much I can learn from the them, I can't leave now."
Nym: "But we need you, what would do without you?"
Elyssa: "--. I don't know what home your god has planned for your Kaleh, but I believe in you, and I know that you will find a place for your people." (This one's tricky, only one letter. :-)
And the last on this account:
name="Flaming Sword"
description="This sword will make all your melee attack do fire damage."

Thanks again. Y'know, if you find more typos feel free to private message them to me. You should register with the forums guest, I'd love to call you something a little less generic.

If you look back through the thread you'll see many many people commenting on this problem, and then discovering the solution. I don't mind the reports, but there didn't seen to be much I could do about it. So I was very very happy when I saw this in the wesnoth changelog:simkin wrote:Argh, yes, thanks, I tried to start the campaign again right now and it works fine. Sorry about that fake-report :/tomsik wrote:try to completly restart wesnoth, it should work

Thank you developers!

Version 1.0 has been released!
You can download it directly from the campaign server. I know people have been waiting for this for a very long time, and let me tell you, I am just as happy as you are to finish the campaign. I wanted to make the conclusion as cool as possible, and I am quite happy with how it turned out.
I'd like to thank Jetryl for some amazing artwork for the final battle. It's really beautiful. Y'know although I started this project, in the end this campaign, like all of wesnoth, is really a testament to the power of the open-source community. I could not have done this on my own. So many players sent in comments and bug reports, so many artists added graphics that were much much better than anything I could do myself, and the developers have added to Wesnoth to support certain features in my campaign. So thanks to everyone for all the help and support. When I started this I wasn't sure if I would ever reach the end. After all those programming project I did as a kid and never finished, it feels really good to have created a complete campaign.
Of course, despite reaching version 1.0, work on UTBS is by no means done. The next thing to do is to go back and try to rebalance certain scenarios and fix several small bugs. Also despite the amazing artwork from Sangel, Jetryl, Pickslide, Scott and many others, there are still parts of the campaign that are lacking, so I hope to continue to improve the graphical quality of UTBS. One of the biggest things I notice is that the Desert Hunter/Sentinel/Prowler units need new artwork to fit in with the rest of the elves.
P.S. Note to future campaign designers: a year ago I said, "It's only 8 scenarios, how long can it take?" Now I know. When you write your first campaign don't plan to start with 36 scenarios, start small, because you don't know how long it takes until you do it. Better to have a shorter finished campaign than to start something epic and huge, and never got more than 15% done.
P.P.S. I'm happy to announce that a French translation is in the works. Now that UTBS is finish and the strings pretty much locked down, if anyone else wants to help translate UTBS into other languages, contact me.
1.0 changelog
-merfolk in scenarios 7 and 8 are now loyal (if you find the merfolks' upkeep too expensive in scenario 9, go back and replay scenario 8)
-fixed typos in scenario 5 and 6
-added final scenarios to UTBS!

Cool...congratulations! I should actually try to play through it, since though it looked interesting last time I tried it, I didn't make it past scenario 2.quartex wrote:Version 1.0 has been released!
These are words of wisdom; I hope other campaign designers follow this principle!quartex wrote: P.S. On behalf of everyone waiting for Wesnoth verison 1.0, I strongly suggest you don't try it until after 1.0 is released.Dave wrote:Cool...congratulations! Hekuba message troubles
In scenario 8 (from 8Water.cfg), the message attributed to Hekuba does not show. I only got hinted to this by not comprehending what Nym refers to with "Who was that?"
Besides, the enemy Sorcerer appears in the middle of the sea.
Hmm... I downloaded 1.0, but my 1st-turn save was from a previous version. I wonder, could that be the cause. (At least to the fact that mermen have no traits.)
Well, I don't fancy playing this over again, so I'll just move on.
EDIT: When I move to 52,16 (for the first time) after having already killed you-know-who (don't want to spoil too much), I get the latter part of the dialog: "Small part or not, I wil..." (You-know-who moved to water to attack my units and was thus easy to kill. Then, afterwards, I got this half of a dialog.)
