Engineering Units

Fun, the same idea was also proposed by me 2 years ago when the calvaryman unit was designed (then named scout)drachefly wrote:If you just want units which help others move faster, remember my Pathfinder unit. Its effect was to reduce the movement cost of units entering adjacent hexes by 1, to a minimum of 1. A pathfinder helping units cross a river could be imagined to be doing some rope-bridge engineering.
That may actually be a good compromise, friendly units adjacent to an engineer may get defensive and movement bonuses. That way the engineer would be the first to move up to a castle or into a river/swamp, and the killer units follow and engage the enemy.
It could represent the engineer not just building all the stuff himself, but also directing the other units on what to do and supplying them with tools and expertise.
This way there won't have to be any permanent map changes, so Stigmatix and Elvish Pillager don't have a cow.

Pathfinder abylity?
Oh great, i think i just said something to make the elvish rangers more powerful
.
Anyway, it sounds better than all the previous dialogues, just for simplycity.

Engineering units
Hmmm, engineering units...
Another possibility would be for engineers to plant traps, they might do various things such as cause damage, slow them, lock them into a hex for a number of turns, reduce certain capabilities...
Could be an idea...
