Direction of sun movement

There already is a tooltip, though. Just mouse over the image and a tooltip will display that shows the time of day and what effect it has on different alignments.xtifr wrote:That was a major problem for me when I first started playing, yes.scott wrote:But it sounds like you're saying that the problem is that people don't know what time it is.
I don't think it's annoying, I just think it's confusing. Having it go backwards (and I agree that there are going to be a lot of people who think it's backwards no matter which way it goes) is just one more thing to cope with when you're trying to learn the game. Like any other part of the game, once you learn how it works, it's not a problem, but having a confusing display is simply one more obstacle in the path of people who are trying to learn the game mechanics. Having text (it could also be a tooltip) won't help experienced players, but will definitely help the beginners, and I think that's a good thing.scott wrote:I think they mostly do but are annoyed by the graphics.
I'm getting confused because you talk like there's no way to see what time of day it is when all you have to do is move the mouse... How much easier does it need to be made?

Even if we can't all agree it's the best solution, we might agree that it's an improvement of the current situation. From what I understand (and can imagine), it wouldn't take a lot of code to implement. Printing the name of the day below the image would not be bad as a temporary measure as long as we don't agree on the question, and certainly the right thing to do if we will never agree.xtifr wrote: why not simply print the name of the time of day below the image?
And yes, I'm tooltipping the image all the time already...

Re: writing direction
I have committed your patch to the CVS. Thank you for your contribution.rogue wrote: I wrote a patch for this and submitted it on the project site. It's now up to the devs if they want to use it or not.

Well, that seems to settle the matter for once and for all. Thanks to Gafgarion for pointing out the tooltip, which I definitely hadn't noticed. I guess there's only so much you can do to help extremely unobservant newbies, such as I used to be.Dave wrote: I have committed your patch to the CVS. Thank you for your contribution.

Side note: the tooltip doesn't seem to appear consistently, but it's definitely there sometimes. Not sure what that's about.
moon
So we solved sun's problem
Lets talk about moon. It's harder than sun. Beside where we live it has phases. Halfmoon, fullmoon, crescent ...
And I can continue, there is solar and moon eclipse. What if we put these
events randomly to the game and give the mages some benefits. It seem
realistic ? I do not know. Do you?
Have fun.
