Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again

My only question is about the lines on her neck, collarbone and the one on her stomach. Why are they so dark and distinct when some of the lines outlining muscles in her arm are much softer in the skin?

I hadn't noticed that, no good reason.
EDIT: Replaced blurry image. Not sure what happened.

Okay, just curious. I like the new portrait, the lines seem to all match across the body now.

Judging by the shading of the metallic objects on her right arm/shoulder, it seems a bit odd that the light source to her left(?) is creating even shading on both sides of her breastplate.

Yeah, I have found that I'm no good at big rounded metal objects. I made this one's plate busier to hide that, not sure it worked. And I am trying to give some of them some sort of mask.

I did finish the base-frames. I hope to do a portrait for the guys with the axe, with a mask like wheel.png. Then that they'll be finished.

And a break from those guys, this is an orc based off of DUHH's sketch. Not finished, but a good fraction of the way there.

Hmm, the busier plate does help, but at the same time it only emphasizes the severity between light and dark spots, which draws attention to the rather uniform shading. Light in certain spots, dark next to them, and it's hard to distinguish a light source. This is also seen in the mask and shoulder piece, as the light seems to be caught horizontally on the mask, but then has a more vertical orientation on her shoulder. Given her facing, I would think it would be somewhere between the two.

Very purple...

And you could do with bigger links on your chain - it's noticeably computer-generated atm - the texture's too perfect.

Otherwise, looks nice =)

Thanks. If I ever get it pinned down, I'll revisit the lighting. The chain is my attempt at making "metal cloth," if it's too distractingly fake I'll possibly try something else.

The version of this one that's currently being used isn't the worst portrait in the campaign, but the pose and cropping are pretty bad. So I'm gonna try again. Ignore the dark chain mail, I rushed that. I mostly just wanted to put this up before I get started on the wings, because I'll be reluctant to change things after that.

Her left hand is way too small. And the elbow expression seems quite comical, a bit funny, but doesn't go well with the style of the rest. I like the shadow on her eyes.
It is ok to correct me if my English is too bad.

sadz,

If that was directed at me specifically, then sure. The story image could use some work. A better version of this would be useful in multiple places (maybe even multiple campaigns):
abandoned marble structure, some gold items & chandelier. Foggy or dusty air.

That was an attempt at foreshortening, but I'll look at it again. Thanks.

doofus-01, what is her facial expression supposed to be? I cannot tell if it is intentional or not, but the shape of her eyebrows combined with the shape of her mouth make her seem as if her eyes are irritated/furrowed in thought but her mouth is happy.

Yeah, her face was/is in need of some clean-up. I was hoping for sort of a wolf grin or leer, but I may just give up on that. It all looks very different when it gets crunched down to 250 px (or whatever it is). I think this holds up better.

Ah okay, yeah, that shows up much better as a sort of angry, you are about to die face. For a wolf grin, it would have be to more teeth and a bigger smile, matched with a happy, predatory gaze. That's a bit hard to convey without fiddling around and getting the right cast in her features.

Taking another pass at this (something about the current one bothers me). Some details and shading are missing, but the pose and face are there.

Looks very nice, but one thing which is a "Lvl4" complaint as the sticky told me, which is I personally find something a bit odd about the wings I'm not sure if they're supposed to be feathers or scales, but they remind me of a metal or concrete wall.

Could be just me :|
