Also, it could do with some outlines rather than solid blocks of colour - it's quite ill-defined at present.

More ragged would be great, too.

The unit himself looks nice, but I'm not sure what he is holding in his left hand?

Looks like a cross-bow.

It is a crossbow. It looks a lot cleaner when it's not posted on the forums, on my computer at least. I've cleaned up the crossbow as best I can; is it any better?

Hi, could you possibly have it facing another direction than up (the left crosspiece overlaps the brown armor which {to me} causes a strange effect that makes me not see the crossbow so much).

Just my thoughts.

Also, a crossbow is very much a two-handed weapon. A shield like that would not be a practical thing to use with most crossbows, as you'd have to put it down to reload and to shoot, which means you lose its protection at the times when you're most vulnerable. He'd be better either with a smaller shield that doesn't impede either hand, or with a pavise which would be stuck into the ground while he reloads, or with a mantlet which he could push in front of him on wheels. The pavise seems the better idea to me...

A few things bothering me:

1. He appears to have a hole in his body about 3px high and 1px wide.
2. I do not think that holding the crossbow towards the sky is the best way for him to point it.
3. His head should face the same way as his body.
4. He should not hold a crossbow and a shield at the same time.

Some of them have already been pointed out, only agreeing with them.

Sorry ive been away for so long, ive had masses of coursework to finnish and so i havnt been able to do any artwork

Telvannia's sprite wasnt too bad, ther basic shape and angle was good. It just needed a little more detail and shading. I took the liberty of doing edits, hope you dont mind.

I still need to work on it a little more however.

Hmm... maybe the crossbow has a better part in a war when wielded in both hands. But thinking it on, the Lv3 Orcish Slurbow of EE wields both a knife and a crossbow in separate hands. So, I think that to wield both a shield and a crossbow means more protection by enemies' attacks. Of course, a crossbow efficiency is nothing compared to the one of a bow, or any ranged-like weapon. The crossbow resembles (in terms of efficiency) a nail-shooter, only that the first one shoots darts than nails. :)
But speaking of that unit, I think that will maybe not be total oddity, but instead an originality.
Trust yourself first, then trust others.

The slurbow can sheathe his knife to fire or reload. The shield would have to be dropped on the floor to fire or reload, which makes it pointless ot have it in the first place, unless, like a pavise, you could stick it into the floor so it would stand up in front of you while you reload/fire, and only be carried during movement.

And rate fo fire depends on the crossbow concerned. The chinese actually designed some very fast-firing (though not as powerful as normal ones) repeating crossbows.

There is a scarecrow in mainline already. It's up to Jetryl to decide whether to keep or replace it.

The shield was my attempt at a pavise...

Maybe he could wear the shield on his back. When an enemy attacks, you can animate him to have him turn his back to his enemy. Just a suggestion.
