Maybe make the red samurai's red a little brighter, but not too much, in my opinion.

Also, aren't the swords on these Japanese units just a little too straight to be convincingly Japanese? I mean, they should certainly not look like scimitars, but a slight curve would be appropriate, especially at the tip.

Hmm I wonder why the red samurais look different, depending on whether I am using LCD or CRT monitor.... on the CRT all of them are almost completely black, on the LCD they look normal red, except the first one done by Seiryu looks... light brown....

I like the red samurai as he is, but I also can't help but wonder what he would look like if his face mask were black.

On another note, what shall this faction be called in-game? Should we really call it "Far Easterners"? Or would something else be better?

I'm tempted to take a page from WWII-era Japan and suggest that we call it "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" (dai-toa-kyoeiken, if Wikipedia got it right)!

Well to be precise...: appleide tried a version and called it "nihon era".

How about something a bit more general, that would include the Chinese as well as the Japanese:

"Ren Lung" (Men of the Dragon)

"Ren Tian" (Men of Heaven)

"Ren Tao" (Men of the Way)

"Ren Chi" (Men of the Life-Force)

Thats not stupid but... the problem is that it would be too much so I think that this idea would be original:

-"Nihon" (if I take back the idea of appleide)

-"Chuugoku" (translation of China in Japanese... I don't have an idea of what it can be in Chinese)
-"Ryudojin" (a mix of the 2 eras in hero mode)

Appleide? We need you...

I like Tian Chi... Don't know if it fits or not... In my language (Cantonese), it means "Gifted by God".

Still, I'd like one all samurai army and one all Chinese army....
It would be easy if we just keep to three unit types each faction. Then we can put it in the Far east Era... And if we are really good at this, make a Korean Faction, and put it into a campaign where Takigawa (I forgot how to spell) invades Korea. or something along the lines of that.

I'll volunteer for code, even though I still need to learn wml for campaigns.

For the samurai faction, I think we might just be able to put together nine unit types. (these units we have the graphics for... Let me just take a couple of hours to code them properly, then attach it here...)

Samurai->Samurailvl2->samurailvl3

Samurai archer->Samurai musketeer -> and the rocket guy

Then the last line we have three ninjas.

Samurai should be lawful? Good armoured, Weak vs Fire/Cold.

musketeers have only 2 attacks, pierce, ranged (14-2) maybe. The rocket guy has 15-3 fire attack but still relative same hp as level 2.

And the ninjas, these are the hardest i think.... they should be chaotic, skirmisher and ambush, and backstab? (at least for level three). weak vs everything but fire cold, holy.

IMHO PLEASE DO correct me if I got my facts wrong... I've only studied japanese+culture for less than two years, and thats only in publc school so that doesnt count for anything.

SO the mini-japanese faction is done for now...

For the chinese I propose:

Spearman

Archer with flaming arrows

That "Firelance" guy Temuchin suggested

Of course, we need to think of a scout unit for all of them.... Later maybe

And IF WE EVER get to it... Koreans, for which I have no idea, and will continue to have no idea untill we finish the samurai faction...

Let me get to work now....
And please suggest changes to my proposals...

Ok seems that we're going to work... appleide??? I'm at your disposition for the images...!! (Ask me only one by one ok?)

And did you fixed the problem that the units were attacking with their bakc or not? (vs.1) If you need the images when they're attacking please tell it too... :D

I think I know why I didn't see that before... because I've set "skip combat" in my preference...
