The scale on Knight-1 still feels like it should have deeper shadows. It feels a little flat. Otherwise, good.

Those are two effective variants, they really look like two different knights while you were able to re-use lots of stuff! :)

No. 1's horse head seems to miss a couple of cast shadows and feels a bit flat due to that.

Revised - and final - version for both knights.

Only king Addroran remains now before I switch to the elven lords :)

Looking good. So there's only the elf lords, Typhon, Addroran, Jevyan, Jevyan's familiar and Rithrandil left? :hmm: Almost there! :D

It's been a while. My life got a little complicate lately, hence the erratic Internet access. But it doesn't mean I'm not doing Wesnoth stuff ;)

So, here goes the lines and flats for king Addroran

Something seems wrong with his creased forehead somehow. :hmm:

His eyes are too wide for the ridged lines on his forehead. When you lower your brows that way, having your eyes open that far is not easy.

Love his moustache though.

The way the composition is cropped now either his lance will be visibly cut or he will have to stare away from the center of screen during conversations. I believe both options will look strange. :hmm:

EDIT: Love the hexagonal mail, though...

Good points about the forehead and general composition. I had envisionned him as looking down at an infantryman, but in a the screen context of a dialog it doesn't fit. :hmm: I'll take both comments into account and post a revision before shading.

In the meantime, some progress has been made with other portraits :
- Jevyan's familiar, based on the earlier flying skull designs
- Lineart for the elf lord Aryad. I'm posting lines alone because I'm not too sure about his outfit.

Love the flying skull!

I personally would imagine an elf as not really particularly wanting to wear fur...And what's the wavy lines near the middle of his robe? Coat? Whatever?

Well, I don't think that they would deny wearing fur...
And I believe the wavy lines may be wrinkles.

Addroran and Aryad look like they'll turn out just fine, so I have nothing to critique there.

As for the familiar... well, I guess I'd have preferred keeping it as a bat, but I have to admit that skull's pretty neat so it's fine by me. We might need to make a new unit type for that though, but I think I'll just make it a Soulless bat variant to begin with.

YES! YES! mainline sprite stuff to do that isn't animating :P

...Just ignore that bit...

By wavy lines, I mean these bits...

Kitty's already said that fur is going to quite likely become part of the elvish aesthetic. Just because they live in forests doesn't mean they don't kill animals. TTBOMK our elves are not vegetarian, especially given that the majority of their armour is leather.

And yes, there might be room for someone to make a batwinged skull. but a number of attempts have already been made, we'll probably use one of those. It doesn't need much in the way of animation either, since IIRC it's a dummy unit that appears only in cut scenes.

No, you fight and kill it in the final battle. I would have preferred keeping the bat too, since it was written as a bat with cute bat lines like "Meep" that don't fit the skull very well. However, it looks *awesome*.
