seeing as the sorcerer is dying, might as well speed up the process

drake warrior is awesome. 6 mp and slowed only by deep water or shrooms makes it pretty godly in terms of getting your leader to a battle front to help. Add to that 14-3 at day in melee, an ok ranged attack and it really is a huge help in turning the tide quickly

My first -2 vote. Although the other undead leaders aren't that much better, DS is a pretty weak spellcaster for an L2, and it doesn't exactly have anything to make up for it (no plague staff or drain attack yet).

(I should really pay attention to these side conversations)

Slightly better attack (4 damage total), same ranged. 7 more HP at the expense of 1 movement. Considering they get one movement in forest, it is not that bad of a trade-off. Personally, I would consider the Lieutenant and Elvish Captain of about equal utility in most instances (though the captain is actually achievable in a standard game, which makes them more useful).

However:
Drake Flare: 8-3 (24 total) melee, 6-4 ranged (considerably better), 55 HP; 5 MP (but drake move-type)

The only reason I see the Drake Flare not being in the lead is that Drake advocates are probably split between leadership/ranged of the Flare and 6 MP/melee of the Warrior. (Or just personal taste. That might change with the new Drake images.)
You forgot that Drake Flare's leadership ability is more useful, since drakes have more powerful L1 units.

Javelineer is good! High pierce resistance, melee and ranged quite good, decent speed...
