Re: Outlaws! Huntsman
Dropping by to give some extra encouragement, the ranger looks great
Especially the face and the bowstring add to the realism, in my eyes at least.

As usual, it's really seriously great. I was wondering though why he would have to put a patch on his belly. It seems to me that clothes usually get broken around the elbows. But I really don't think it's a big deal.
Great work anyway.

Re: Outlaws! Huntsman
A good point, but given the fact that he would be outdoors all the time and potentially be doing a lot of climbing, crawling or the like, I am sure he is capable of getting a rip or tear on the chest/stomach of his clothing as it rubs.

Re: Outlaws! Huntsman
The colours and textures are wonderful, but I find him a little "flat" in places (i.e. I have trouble reading the volumes) : his shoulders (mostly the right one), the left half of his chin (because it has a darker value than the right half), the patched area of his tunic between the forearms, his left bracer (compared with the right one)...
I tried a paintover of a desaturated view, hope it conveys my meaning

Hey very good.

This girl, this boy, They were part of the land. What happens to the places we used to tend?

Hunt, hunt, hunt, it's the Huntsman!
Seriously awesome portrait, though i fear everyone will level their trappers into huntsmen instead of rangers because their portrait is way cooler looking.
Can't wait for the footpad and thug lines. Are you going to do a ruffian portrait too?

Re: Outlaws! Huntsman
pfft, rangers p4wn huntsmen.
'tis a cool portrait, yes, Though the belt going along his chest (and the gloves) does seem awfully clean and shiny. It also looks as if half of it just starts to vanish when getting closer to his shoulder, instead of falling under the clothing. It's mere nitpick though, generally this looks great.
(in case you're still going to see to the belt/gloves, the bow also seems very light for someone with his lifestyle - a darker tone would bring more life to it)

Man do I envy the shading on that leather.
This picture's amazing.

Re: Outlaws! Huntsman
You are right - the lighter leather parts are a tad clean, I decided to leave them that way to have a counterpart for all the dirty parts, something light vs all the dark. Perhaps it turned out too extreme...Girgistian wrote:Though the belt going along his chest (and the gloves) does seem awfully clean and shiny. But I won't have time to try something else on the leather parts or work on any other of the outlaws since I need to work on my minor diploma thesis for the next couple of weeks. Meh, real life.
