Here's a great idea for this faction! I'm not sure if it appears in any culture's mythology, but it does appear in The Worm Ouroboros by E.R. Eddison, one of the classics of early Twentieth Century fantasy.
Manticore -- head of a man (but with two rows of sharp teeth), body of a lion, tail of a scorpion
bite blade melee
sting pierce melee poison
swift in the mountains
manticore whelp -> manticore -> manticore terror
EDIT: I forgot to mention that manticores are red-skinned and have an overpowering stench. And they eat human flesh.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Just to remind some things after reaing this:
The preliminar stats by EP had him as a though defensive cookie, wich also poisons.
Flametrooper wrote:The Acidic Amoeba could poison. It would be a sort of blob of goo, hard to kill with regular damage, but weak to fire, energy, cold, etc. Strong to mental, as it has no mind.
Just ideas.

But what about the manticore? I think it would be a good fit with the general character of this faction.
Oh, and the red skin is a dull red, not a bright one.
[joke]Another possible attack for it would be stench 0-1 impact slow marksman[/joke]

Manticores come from Persian mythology. Yet another entry into the "mix-and-match-animal-parts" school of monster building.Temuchin Khan wrote:Here's a great idea for this faction! Just a reminder for any would-be artists out there:
This leaves images for the blue-skinned creatuers, the fallen celestials, and the acidic amoeba. Hmmm....Actually, now that I think about it, a horse doesn't make much sense in this faction if they live in swamps and caves...
.hmmmm.....*thinks*
There's already preliminary art for the Rabid Horse and the Flying Eyeball. I'm thinking about using Eternal's last .png for the Thought Stealer as well.JW wrote:Leaders:
Fallen One: Winged One Celestials that have turned to aide the blue-skinned creatures. Think Herald gone bad at level 2. He needs to have different colored (darker) armor and a more menacing look.
Eyeless Guilder and Lifecrafter: the blue-skinned creatures described in the background.
Recruits:
Thought Stealer
Flying Eyeball
Acidic Amoeba
Rabid Horse
That's it for now. A blue-skinned creature should be recruitable at lvl 1 I think...
...anyway, this is a starting point. We can add more later.

Lifecrafter (good enough?): These men have dedicated their lives to study the effects of differents substances on living beings. With this knowledge, they create horrid creatures to do their bidding, giving and taking life from anything they encounter.
lvl2 neutral- 32hp-6mov
heals +6
Flesh Knife 4-2 melee Blade
Toxin Vial 4-3 ranged Fire (poison)
Tinker with it. My plan was to make the Eyeless a resilient/maddened fella that can dish out harmful magic, while the Lifecrafter would be a scrawny guy running through its forces to support and command them.
I was making a(nother) half demon for my collections and then... it hit me.
Maybe this guy... with blue skin and brutally stripped off wings, this could be of use here?
Although I myself see fallen celestials hooded and armored...
Maybe The Exile?
... And I know it looks like a defensive frame, heck, let it be one if you wish. So please try to comment it otherwise.

I wish I had more time in my hands.
Well, here's the background again:
The fallen Celestials don't have the blue skin, it's the Thrull that do. The Thrull are the blue-skinned creatures I refer to a few times in there - they are the Eyeless. I edited the description from before, so that may not have been clear. The fallen Celestials, or Fallen Ones, have torn out their own eyes as the only physical difference from their winged counterparts. They rely more heavily on magical or mental attacks to damage their opponents though. They wouldn't use a physical weapon probably.
So, there's 2 different ways you could go:
1) create a Fallen One image that is essentially an evil Messenger/Herald
2) create an image for the Thrull - the blue-skinned creatures based off of this pic (that can't be used for copyright purposes):
JW wrote:Celestials who grow their wings are known as Winged Ones, and are treated with a higher level of respect for their fitness and majesty. With this respect comes a greater expectation however, and although most thrive on this, some do not....
Not all Celestials fit into this society so well. Some who lose their wings become so maddened that they reject their society and turn to it's opposite. Some warriors who have horrific experiences on the battlefield cannot return to their former beliefs and either join forces with those with a darker view, or simply wander off. Then there are the Winged-Ones who feel pressured to live up to the expectations of their society...these Celestials can and have reacted in terrible ways against this pressure. Some have gone mad, torn their eyes out to escape seeing the light and turn to the arts of darkness. Some turn their resentment of their fellow Celestials' expectations into rage and become berserkers attacking everything that reminds them of this pressure. These outcast Celestials often find allies in a race of blue-skinned creatures who practice the arts of darkness to create and summon horrific Aberrations to do their bidding. It is among these creatures they find a second home....
More on the blue-skinned creatures:
These creatures are born blind and so stick to living in swamps and underground. They have developed an ability, like bats, to create sonic waves to "see" their surroundings. They stand about 5-feet tall, but their hunched stance puts them at a solid 4-feet. Their 4 fingers end in solid, ground-tearing claws.
These creatures, lacking sight, hunger to gain power and "vision" in other areas. Experimenting and magic and alchemical endeavours, these creatures, the Thrull, summon and create monsters to do their bidding in their quest for even greater power. Some of the Thrull actually have been born with sight and simply feign blindness in order to avoid the jealousy of their bretheren. Those who are caught are forced to rip their eyes out to level the playing field. It is rumored that these "Eyeless" ones become endowed with even greater powers than sight....
