Reduce the "perspective effect" you do to virtually every sprite your draw, which raises the back foot relative to the front foot. You're doing too much and it looks weird/wrong. It makes it look like their rear leg is half the length of the front one.
I'd say you need to reduce the effect by about half.
I'd also say this is a showstopper issue - this MUST get fixed. Other than that, your work is getting to be really quite impressive, but that's a major, major deal we have to fix.
For example, looking at that most recent invoker line, L1 is fine. L2, is a little too perspective-y, and L3 is just absurd.

Also, there's not a lot of visual difference beyond the pose. The L2 may want a bigger gun, and a little more bulk.
And what Jetrel said about the feet. The difference in level between the two feet on most BfW units is *one pixel*, and two at most.

Alright, I swear I am going to fix this perspective problem. It's a really bad habit and I need to stop convincing myself that my brand of overperspective emphasized with shortened legs is a good idea.
Seriously, it's rather frustrating to know you're doing something incredibly wrong and yet not have impetus to change it.

Wait, huh? what is this i don't even.Zerovirus wrote:In other news, here's a new Gunner line. I went for the complete revampage here, not sure if want.
I was not aware that any of the 'Dark Army' sprites i had frankensteined for Blueblaze a while back was used for anything remotely mainline. Could someone fill me in on which ones are being used and where? Are these guys only going be used in Invasion From the Unknown? Is that going mainline? I am so confused.
Obviously i am terribly surprised at seeing those sprites here. To clarify, I do not begrudge the use of my sprites or the reimagining of them. In fact i really like the WH40k witch hunter look the new sprites are sporting. Should i look forward to future awesomeness derived from my frankenstein fumblings?
Also, i have the original sprites still on my computer. Please let me know if they will be of any help, your example there looks pretty messed up.
Edit: I just downloaded IftU and After the Storm to check and found a few of the other 'Dark Army' sprites in IftU, the bowman and horseman lines. I didn't even know THEY were in there. I guess that's what i get for taking myself out of the loop.

Re: Zerovirus' sprites for UtBS
I am not completely sure since I don't have gunners in IftU. Maybe Espreon requested them for TSL, although they could also be useful in After the Storm after the timeskip...provided I ever get back to work in it, that is.Neoskel wrote:I was not aware that any of the 'Dark Army' sprites i had frankensteined for Blueblaze a while back was used for anything remotely mainline. I wouldn't say "incredibly" .Zerovirus wrote:Alright, I swear I am going to fix this perspective problem. It's a really bad habit and I need to stop convincing myself that my brand of overperspective emphasized with shortened legs is a good idea.

Making the knee a bit more prominent might do the trick. 1 or 2 pixels I would say

Re: Zerovirus' sprites for UtBS
I forgot to mention, one of the directions that i was thinking about going with those gunner units was to change their spear+gun arsenal to something like pole cannons (like the one here: pole cannon) with bayonets on them. Effectively combining the spear and gun into a single weapon. It would probably make for a terribly impractical weapon, but hey they're chaos now. I'm just putting that out there for your consideration.

You mean like the hand cannon in the Dwarf Thunderer portrait? That would be a very cool embellishment.

I thought they where made up just for the Hellsing manga/anime and their KKK regiments...
Anyways, the addition of Polecannons to the Chaos faction would be interesting, but might technically break the balance for the races; you would have to check with Shadowmaster about that.
Ehhhh... don't mind me, I'm just the annoying little modder who gets on peoples nerves. I'll just lurk till Someone says my name. :P

Gunner line; I'm not too satisfied but I think it'll do for the moment. Two shoulder armor versions for the lv3 are below and I haven't decisively picked one yet.

Wow, those are... wicked cool.

Re: Zerovirus' sprites for UtBS
I suggest going with the frilled shoulders, as they look more like an upgrade to the L2 shoulders. The transition between shoulders and upper arm might need a little work for readability though.

The lvl2 gunner reminds me of the description of "The Gunslinger(s)" in Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' series. In other words, you just made a visual picture of one of literatures great personas. Thanks :p

Re: Zerovirus' sprites for UtBS
I'd still lend my support to the hand cannon/pole cannon with bayonet idea.
